Dark Screen

Please excuse my lack of pc knowledge, this is the first game I have played on pc. I am having a problem with the screen being so dark that I can't see anything indoors or in shadows, causing me to be repeatedly killed by players I can't even see. The monitor is on 100% brightness and I've tried to change it in the game. Is there maybe something in the computer or video card settings I am missing? Any help would be appreciated.

You don't have another monitor or one you could bother do you?

I had this problem once and realised that it worked fine on another.

BF2 doesn't have an ingame gamma (brightness) control so download PowerStrip which should fix the problem (it did for me).
