Put the commander in the UAV trailer to access command functions

Anyone know how to do this:

Would like to have the commander, and only the commander), to actually enter (press 'E') to access the commander functions.

try searching the bf2 editor forums - they always have answers to your questions

And again NO it wouldn't be possible to have a commander specific vehicle.
Just the same as it wouldn't be possible to have a pilot class only plane or a spec ops only tank.

and anyway whats the point in having your commander way back behind the front lines. Commanders need to see whats happening and where to attack next etc.
No-one would play commander if they had to sit in the trailer every round just to use the arty......

Actually its possible to make commander specific vehicles with python, register an handler for EnterVehicle, then take the vehicle object and see if the vehicle is that vehicle you want commander specific and then check the player object if the player is an commander.

the commander should never be in the action. When a commander is running around like a normal player, they are not doing their job watching over things.

Agreed. commander needs to find a nice quiet little spot and hide. If he's doing anything else, he's not fulfilling his role.

                *disagrees*
16 player maps, CO's can run and gun, and don't forget that (in general) CO's can use their 'T' commo-rose to issue basic CO commands like arty, UAV, supplies. I do it all the time and have a blast.
However, when I *do* do it, I am the one who runs from building to building, hiding spot to hiding spot usually.

I never meant they were doing the attacking.
Commanders should be somewhere near the front line so they can see where their players are and where the enemy is.
If a commander is way back at their main spawn and unable to see anything (except via UAV and scanning) then they're not going to know where their troops would be most effective in attacking/defending....
Isn't a commander better when he knows whats going on in the game...?

He can use the zoom to see enemy troops, and direct his guys accordingly. Even spot them by bushes and rocks.

u can't see all that far in bf2. especially maps with hills...
im not saying that a commander shouldn't be back from the action but this whole topic is about having the commander working from the trailer which to me seems totally pointless.

Have you tried zooming in on the map when in commander mode? The commander can be as far away as possible to the action, and have a real-time birds eye view of anywhere he wants to watch. Ive followed players, enemies too, its funny watching snipers just climb up a huge ladder to launch an arty srike on them lol. Or save your arty for more important uses, and give loactions to pilots

I wouldnt mind needing to work in a trailor, although its an easy target, but at least it gets rid of those n00b commanders who fight and have no idea how to supply me with my requests. At least you wont see them flying planes and helos, and they will actually have to not fly and things to command.
