A POSITIVE post for a change....

Ya know, a lot of us gripe and complain about the problems that BF2 has. Sometimes they're valid, sometimes not so much, but there are times in this game when the planets align, and EVERYTHING goes right.

Case in point: Yesterday, I was playing on a server running Sharqi Peninsula at the time, and we got beat up pretty badly on the first round, and I thought to myself "I wonder if we'd do any better if I were to command?"

Now, I'm no General MacArthur by any means, but I really enjoy the command aspect of BF2, and most of the time I find that if I apply, I'm accepted as Commander.

So the map starts, and I'm on the USMC side. A quick mic check shows that two of my squad leaders have mic's, and long story short, we manage to push the Chinese back into their primary base.

    "Commander, should we advance?"
"Hold what you've got. If one or two get loose, I'll notify you and send someone to clean up."

Long story short, every once in a while teamwork comes together on this game, and when it does, it makes short memory of all the BS that you deal with on pub servers.

I was really looking forward to commanding in the next round as well.....then the power went out!

Nothing beats that feeling in the game. I am sure that is why we all come back.

I as well have had some good voice comes with my squad leaders. You feel like a great commander when your squads do what you request them to do.
:pEspecially when it works out in the end:)

getting accepted as commander is usual. if you apply, you get it. (as long as no one else with a higher rank beats you).

Yeah the teamwork aspect of this game does, when it all comes together make it a sweet experience. You just have to remember to savour it when it does come along, coz it dont happen all that often.

I love playing as a team - it makes the game exponentially more fun. All those stats just go right out the window and playing as a team is the only thing that matters.

I waited a few minutes to see if they'd try to flank with a helicopter drop or some such, but they didn't really manage to get anything together. I had a squad with about 4 SF in it, so I cut them loose toward the very end. Good times.

Re: A POSITIVE post for a change....

And once again it comes to this :P On a public server ppl don't really care about their flags/winning the round if they are getting enough points just lone-wolfing around... The only award that deals with the Win/loss ratio is the war college ribbon :P

So if you are the commander, it is very hard to get any squad to leave their current stations and actually go and defend that remote flag with two enemy soldiers approaching it.

It's a real pity the current point system doesn't reward the players of the winning team.

With a competent commander and the efficient use of VOIP u can just OWN the other team and man is that sweet... to make them say :"How can the always anticipate what we are going to do"
