What is with the disconnects in this game?

I have a great computer and a stable internet connection but the game still lags sometimes and i've never played a game for more than 30 minutes. Sometimes i'll get a message saying that i've been disconnected from the server and so I exit BF2 and check my internet connection, and it is down, can't sign on AIM, or internet explorer. Then after a few minutes it is up again.When I play other games my connection is fine. Here's my specs

Pentium 4 3.4
Geforce 7800 GTX
1 gig of ram

my cable is 2.5 mb per sec from charter

why do i keep on getting disconnected!?!?!?

in your game settings-connection type: is it cable or T1/lan?

I found that i got less disconnection if i set it to cable(dsl).

While people are noticing a lot od disconnects with BF2, I don't think that the game is actually killing their Inet connection. Rather it's a disconnect from the server they're playing on.

Perhaps it's just your IP (Internet Provider).
Double check with them, see if there is any maintenance work in the area on the Broadband and ask them why your getting disconnected.

Disable all firewalls or open all ports!
