Serious Video Problems

Ever since I installed the 1.02 patch I've been having serious vid problems. Every time I play, my frame rame drops to the singe digits and the the sky will turn solid black, or tree textures will disappear, or vehicles will disappear, or all of these problems at once. It seems to only affect a certain corner of each map (which can be anywhere) or it happens when I face a certain direction. This is making the game unplayable for me, and it is especially frustrating since the game worked flawlessly before the update.

I'm using a p2.4, 512 megs of ram, with a radeon 9700 pro. The latest catalyst drivers have been installed.

Any ideas? This is driving me crazy..

Some have had success by deleting the BF2 cache from the following directory after installing the patch:

C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxx\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

try other drivers, the latest drivers aren't always the best ones for everyones system.

In your case, using the 9700, I would use an older driver.

Or you can always try the Omega drivers.

I am shore, when you try out some drivers your problem will be solved, your problem is a pure software problem

I can if you also try :) m8. There could be at least 10 things off the top of my head but you need to be more specific plz, as the graphic anomalies and drop in frame rate may be one or the same problems. Also you say "it is especially frustrating since the game worked flawlessly before the update"

Was this the full game or demo, have you uninstalled the demo, if you still have it on HD, have you uninstalled the BF2 file in my documents.


First things first.
Did you patch over the first patch if so then do a full uninstall and then reinstall with the 1.02 hotfix patch only and try. How to... http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18709

Then we will move on to the next stage if not successful.

Sounds like you installed over some old drivers. You need to clean them before you install new ones.

thanks for the advice, ill try tommorrow when i have the time for a full re-install
