Spawn strategy

I've learned a great deal from this site, and finally have a question I couldn't find an answer for.

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to manage my spawn location. Sometimes, there's a good squad leader who stays out of trouble, and I can just form up on them. Those are the Good Times. :)

But often, even when players do form squads, they engage the enemy directly - so that's no safe bet. I'll try to start a squad of my own, and everybody takes off all over the map - so I'm playing support and everybody spawns at a base.

So I've resigned myself to spawning at bases. But I run into trouble there also. If a base is under attack, is it a good idea to spawn there? I find myself getting killed right away. But if I spawn elsewhere - I often get stranded without a vehicle, because they are all in use.

What advice do you guys have?

I wouldn't spawn at a base under attack unless you think you have a good chance of making a difference (i.e. Anti-Tank if there's a vehicle in there or if you're a SL and can run for cover to be a spawn). The only advice is to find a good squad and unfortunately they're few and far between. Next time you make your own squad name it something like "HAS_BRAIN" or "WE_SMART" and hope that intelligent, like-minded individuals with microphones will join up. Then you can throw the leadership of the squad on another person who will maybe be more prone to being a spawn while you do your work. Just ask them on the mic and they'll most likely respond.

Having a squad leader who understands the value of holding back is very useful. Failing that try to avoid the bases u know are being attacked or those with lots of red dots on the UAV.

If ur worried about not getting some transport then spawn a few bases back. Theres more likely gonna be a jeep lying around. Spawing further away where theres transport is sometimes better than spawning closer with no transport. Also u can give the attack a new dimension by attacking from a different direction from a back base.

I know if I'm ever squad leader I try to keep myself relatively out of harm's way (like not going point) -- as much discipline as it takes to not run up and assault with the rest of my squad.

When you do Spawn, Spawn somewhere where the Enemy is NEAR But dont spawn directly close the enemy, as chances are they will be in a big ass Tank waiting to own your ass

If I get killed near a base
and think I can come back and kill the
guy/vehicle that got me
then I try to do so
if the base is swarming - well - I am prudent
and look for a safe spawn spot
no snese in getting wacked in 1 sec over and over
