  • Connections issues

    Hi peeps,
I have a very hard connection problem. Sometime I can join a server and play. But sometimes not. If i connect with te server, the server will load the map. After that there appeared a menu where you can choose your kit. Immediately I get a message: "There is a problem with your connection". Here you can see a picture.

You can guess the following story. I will be kicked to the servermenu (ingame), where you can join a server.

I have disabled my firewall but it didn't have any effect. Opening ports won't help because sometimes I can join games. I have BF2 Demo on my pc too (this is full version :P) and there I haven't got this connection problem.

    Does somebody have any suggestions.
    thank you for reading this.

    Re: Connections issues

IMHO you should uninstall the demo "and" the full game then reinstall this will tell you how to do it properly (because you will probably be having conflict of files issues causing this issue)

    How to.. http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18709

OK you have the same similar problem as the guy on this post... http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?p=335851#post335851

This is what i suggested him to do and this applies to you to.......

Do as Gunny says in this post bro and or do a MD5 file check.

It's full name is "MD5summer, download etc from link....... http://www.md5summer.org/ if you read the "About" it will give you the full intel.

          Post results plz..>>>

It is looking like.... when installing the game program, when it is transferred from disk to RAM and then to HD the program is getting corrupted the RAM is not passing all the program files, in there entirety to the HD.
Test your ram sticks as it is now then test each ram stick by it's self.
It's the only way to sort it out m8. some info for the test on your issue in this link...... http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14208

DL memtest from www.memtest.org you create a bootable floppy / CDRom the instructions suck and there is no support (freeware).

Quote..Memtest just started and the whole screen was red - I had to see, that one of my RAM-Modules was f*cked up at ~362 MB. :wall: ...End Quote
          From.... http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showt...=14208&page=13

Plz post results to help others!

A late reaction. What do I precisely have to scan with MD5. I checked the MD5-test in the files EA/Battlefield2 and My Documents/Battlefield 2, that is what you mean?

              Re: Connections issues

              FYI.
Go to the file that you saved MD5 >
              > open >
              > Click on icon called md5summer you will get a box saying "Please select the root folder" > > in this case then you need to check/do >
              > select the drive that you have saved BF2 in (Normally C: Battlefield 2) >
              > click on the file Battlefield 2 >
              > NOw on the bottom of the box Click on "Create sums" >
              > click "select all" >
              > click "Add" >
              > click "OK" and let it run >
When finished you have just assessed all .exe files for faults, incomplete or corrupted, it
will ask you to save the information and where to save it you do not need to do this unless
you wish to refer to it at a later date.
              So save or cancel.
You are left with a box MD5 sums generating.
If all is well with your files you should have all green (use slide bar)
If not you have corrupt files.

Shark, I did what you suggested and I didn't have corrupt files. Could you explain me how I must use that memtest?

Here is an update. I can now join unranked servers without having connection problems. But i can't join ranked servers.

Conclusion: BFHQ is ****ed up :P.

Go to Punkbuster http://www.punkbuster.com/index.php?...upport-bf2.php and download and follow the instructions for using "pbweb.exe." Once you have updated your PB files, I bet you can join ranked servers.

                        Re: Connections issues

bf2 has crap netcode, there most likely lies ur problem lmao

also i'd recommend forwarding the required bf2 ports, even if it does connect sometimes, remember that programs tend to use a range of ports like 4000-5000 for example, meaning it can basically use any of those 1000 portsone time, and a totaly different one the next time, so because it gets thru once doesn't nessisarily mean it'll use that same port and get through next time..

also update punkbuster manually, as it seems alot of times the update times out and can you to get disconnected

Pb updated for years ago. Removed my router and directly connected to the WAN network but it didn't maken any differents .

I'm gonna wait until patch 1.03. Hope that will work.

You have ticked the box in options that says "ranked servers" right ??
As far as i know all ranked servers only, are running 1.02 hotfix patch.
