    Someone tell me which monitor to buy PLEASE

    I have had a 19 inch CRT forever now. I think its time to upgrade to a flat screen that everyone has of course. The problem is I hear so mixed things about whats better for games and whats not. I know nothing about monitors so a little help would be appreciated. My main concern is a monitor that is perfect for gaming obviously with a good refresh rate. Thanks in advance

      Anything with a 1280x1024 or higher resolution, 12ms or lower response time, 450:1 contrast ratio or higher, and a refresh rate 75 or higher.

            LCD = flat and thing
            CRT = flat but big

            I like LCDs.

                That was in the olden days Jimmy. LCDs are more responsive, and much better then they used to be. Ghosting, is a thing of the past.

                    You mean the Samsung 17" 710MP? It's an 8ms response time.

                    I've had a play with the BenQ FP71G+ and can reccomend it. It's a 17" 8ms, 500:1 contrast ratio, DVI, great colour and sharpness, and really cheap!

                    Just by the way, I just upgraded my 19" CRT to a second hand IBM 21" flat CRT. I'm now playing BF2 at 1600x1200 at a 120Hz refresh rate!
                    It cost me AU$90 - maybe about US$60. Fills the desk, but is just soooo good!

                      I have a GREAT crt (21") and a GREAT LCD 19"
                      both TOP Line Specs
                      visually game is WAY better on CRT
                      and CRT few $100 less
                      just bigger on desk

                        Don't get to fixed on the listed response rate in specs, as some manfacturer are not so accurate when staing their response rate. Often the listed response rate is not for all colors and thus not accurate at all, you might find some LCDs with way higher response rates, but actually are better than a LCD where response rate is listed as lower.

                        When buying a LCD, I suggest you find a store where you can try it in action, or trust a review site you know to do a good job of reviewing it.

                          See my sig for a monitor recommendation. Only cost me just above $300 from Circuit city and I love it. No ghosting, dead pixals and it has very vibrant color. Plus an 8MS response time is very good.

                          Sig below.
