Ok, so there is absolutely no doubt in anybody's mind that the Blackhawk totally owns the hell out of the MEC and Chinese transport choppers, right? I mean, twin gatling guns, it flies smoother, easier to handle. How come they made this so unbalanced? Is it made up for in some other area? Tanks seem to be just about the same, jets are the same, buggies are the same (HMMWV might have a little more armor) but it seems like MEC and China got a big stiff when they got stuck with those crappy, bulky, Russian-inspired flying boulders. With mounted single-barrel machine guns, rather than guns where you can just sweep a flag area and kill 5 enemies.

Re: Helicopter Balance Issues
Yea i think the only thing wroung with the Blackhawk is the passenger compartment u can get shot out only to easliy in a passenger seat of a BH. -

Re: Helicopter Balance Issues
Maybe that's the "downside" then. But the other transports are open doors too. They have to go "boom boom boom boom" on one body at a time (in a helicopter vs. helicopter situation) whereas in a BH you can just go "BZZHHZHZHH!!!" and go back and forth over it and get 5 kills like nothing.Comment

hah, minigun passes through their transports, point and fire, everyone dies, its realistic, but unfair lolComment

Don't other militaries have minigun technology? I mean... I bet our miniguns have "Made in China" stamped on them somewhere.Originally posted by watlerhah, minigun passes through their transports, point and fire, everyone dies, its realistic, but unfair lolComment

Re: Helicopter Balance Issues
MEC and China have stronger buggies with the machine gun that can turn a full 360 degrees, while USMC has that stupid one that looks like a ramp. So I think this is supposed to make up for the fact that MEC and China have Air Cows.Comment

Re: Helicopter Balance Issues
I say put another gun on each side of the Chinese/MEC transports making it 4 guns and make them do a bit more damage, as well as keeping the 3 passengers. Even faster flag capping goodness, 2 guns per side (provided you can use them) and people to repair still. If you have people who know what they're doing, I think that'd match the Blackhawk.Comment

but, you can only have 6 in any vehicle. I think it's hardcoded into the game that no more than 6 spots in a vehicle.Originally posted by JesseI say put another gun on each side of the Chinese/MEC transports making it 4 guns and make them do a bit more damage, as well as keeping the 3 passengers. Re: Helicopter Balance Issues
A big problem I have with the skycows are the hit detection on the side guns. Someone posted a video (I think it was here) where he sat in the gunner seat of the attack helo and pummeled a soldier, but did no damage. The soldier was twitching like he was getting hit and everything, but no damage was being done. I've had that happen quite a few times as a side gunner on the Chinese transport helo, and we're hovering, I spy an enemy that's not moving so I let him have it, he twitches, but doesn't die, even after sustained fire for 5 seconds. Yet, I can hang out the back of one and blast people away with my DAO just fine. I'm sure the BH would have the same problem too if it didn't have such huge splash damage. That's what's preventing the transport helos from being 'even', I think.

Re: Helicopter Balance Issues
Even more guns wouldn't change the fact that the minis rip through APCs and AA vehicles in 4 seconds from spinup and the others don't even damage them. Making them a one shot kill on infantry would certainly be a start though.Comment

Re: Helicopter Balance Issues
THe BH has less protection for the passengers for sure; if you fire an AT rocket/m203 into the SIDE of a full BH , you should get a good 2-3 kills. Also Im sure that the MEC/China Helo is a lot more armoured (but slower), I was piloting one and took an AT rocket hit, but it only took about 1/4 to 1/3 damage; whilst in a BH two AT rockets will do serious damage, leaving it seriously smoking, and it can then easily be shot down.
However the BH is definitely too good still, people on USMC will always rush to get in BH, but on MEC people arent bothered to get into the transport helo.Comment

No, they aren't.Originally posted by Sploitzjets are the same
The Mig29 owns the F35 in air to air combat, and it is actually easier to hit ground targets with the Mig.
The Su34 owns the F15 in air to air combat.
The J10 owns the F35 in air to air combat.
You get the picture - fly as little american jets as possible in BF2 if you value you your KDR.Comment

Re: Helicopter Balance Issues
The best I normally manage is 1. That's the guy who's sitting on that side stops the rocket from exploding in the cabin. Normally, this kind of maneuver doesn't have a very good survival rate because the minigun is staring right at you. However, you could conceivably put one through the rear hatch of the MEC heli.Originally posted by swissTHe BH has less protection for the passengers for sure; if you fire an AT rocket/m203 into the SIDE of a full BH , you should get a good 2-3 kills.
They both have the same armour. They both take 3 AT rounds to take into critical damage. With just one engineer onboard, they are both invulnerable to 1 ATer but with all three, they should be able to tank the damage of 3 ATers unless one manages to hit a sweet spot. Also Im sure that the MEC/China Helo is a lot more armoured (but slower), I was piloting one and took an AT rocket hit, but it only took about 1/4 to 1/3 damage
Of course, combined with the stopping power of the miniguns, and extra speed and agility, the BH clearly has the advantage because it can level the opposition before they pose any significant threat.Comment

Re: Helicopter Balance Issues
Perhaps the armour is the same, and I didnt take a direct hit. Certainly I dont see why they made the BH so much more speedier and agile than the other transport helos.Comment
