Can't Join server - it just refreshes servers

I have been playing BF2 all along since the beginning with no problems connecting to servers. Now all of a sudden when I double click on a server it doesn't connect and it just refreshes the servers. This also happens if I try to connect through IP. I have tried the following:

1 - Turning off my Windows Firewall (although it was never a problem before)
2 - Getting rid of all other programs running in the Windows tray


I guess I'm about to reinstall but I'm afraid if it is a registry problem it will just still be there after the reinstall. Anyone have any clue here...?
