Anyway of playing withguns before officially unlocking?

Are there any servers in 1.02 where you can play with guns before unlocking them. I want to compare the G3 against the PKM, I cant decide which one to choose. Ive pick up several G3's off of dead body's and had very good success with them at CQB, much better then the M16. However I hear that its not good from all the people that have unlocked it.

So my next choice is the PKM. Only got to play with this for a very small amount when I killed this one guy using it.. And I thought it was very similar to the saw (which I dont like).

So I was wondering if there is any way I could play with the PKM more before i make my decision, without uninstalling BF2? Singleplayer would work 2...

AFAIK, any unranked servers that have the line "Global unlocks: 1"

But since I do not play MP I am not sure, can someone please confirm or deny?

i think that with the patches that editing the code to unlock them in singleplayer won't work anymore. I'm not 100% certain though. It was on here somewhere.

Best bet is to get some friends that have the unlocks you want to try, go to an empty ranked (or one that has unlocks enabled) and test them out.

just looked for unranked servers and same say that all weapons all unlocked

what i did was pick up dead players kits to see what unlock they had, or if they had one, i just tested them out before someone killed me and i had to go back to my original gun

Yea, I do what ripperpuppy does, I usually follow the people that has the gun I want to test, and wait for him to die and just steal his equips

As ive said ive done that but I rarely find someone with a PKM... And if I get lucky enough to pick it up, I might not get screwed by a tank or not run into any infaltry, or get artilleryd etc....

Try www.game-monitor.com and search for Global Unlocks in the server name area with Bf2. Might work, but some servers say they have GU:1, but don't really.

You could install the demo with the retail version. Then, goto:

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 Demo\python\bf2\stats\unlocks.py

And change the line (with wordpad):

defaultUnlocks = [0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0]

to:

defaultUnlocks = [1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1]

Both versions coexist without any problems (yet), just use the demo for testing weapons in SP.
