Need little help from a 3ds max owner

    Hi,
I'm looking for someone who could build a simple Battlefield 2 mesh containing just cubes: One cube for each LOD and one cube for each collision mesh. It's important that these cubes all have different edge coordinates, ideally they don't even overlap. Differing texture coordinates would be great.

I know this wouldn't make any sense for use in-game I need it to help me exploring the BF2 mesh file format (see my signature).

I would need the .3ds and the .*mesh file. I can't offer you any payment but the guy who helps me will be mentioned in the tools credits :yay: (could result in fame, glory and several marriage proposals)

    Thanks!

p.s.: attach the files to your posting or mail it to me: yarin@t-online.nospam (nospam = de) Thanks again.

      Hey Yarin,

I would be willing to do this for you as I am a 3d artist and it wouldn't be too much effort :) Only question I have is how to make the .*mesh, the .3ds won't be a problem though.

        Hey nealb4me,
thanks. I already got my hands on a staticmesh generated by the bf2 max exporter but it doesn't help me either because this friggin exporter generates a seperate collisionmesh, which makes the files pretty useless to me. I need this mesh with collision data inside.

I can't tell you how to export these meshes. Look around here or at other modding websites - you should be able to find a tutorial somewhere.

They all create separate collision mesh files, dont they? I know bundledmesh files do. I thought the staticmesh files DID have it included, but you just said they didnt so...

Right I changed the .3ds file which I will be emailing you but here is the visual structure in 3dsmax to help you see whats going on. It forced me to delete the lod1 and lod2 models in order to export. I hope I have understood what you are after here. Let me know how it goes.

                  Hi nealbf4me,
thanks a lot! I'm currently examining the files. They were helpful already :-)

Would it be possible for you to compile another mesh? There must be some way to make a bundledmesh - a vehicle or something. Could you do that, again with cubes?

It's ok if you don't have the time to do that. You had been already very helpful.

Hey, no problem. If you are simply looking for object names inside the files then you could take a look at this if you have not done so already:http://www.planetbattlefield.com/bf2...g/buildingcar/
(actually if you download the tutorials from EA they include the screenshots at full resolution)

It's Maya based but is still fundamentally the same. It would take a while to set up but if it's crucial to your developement then I will see what I can do :)
