    Terrain Problem

I have looked through a few mapping forums and I cannot find a similar topic.
There are several topics that hint at my problem but turn out to be not at all related.

My problem is terrain/textures viewed at a distance and getting closer, I have screenshots to better explain. I believe this might be called redraw?

In this first pic you can see sand built up around the walls of the terrace.

In the second pic I am closer to the terrace and there is less sand built up around the terrace.

In the third pic, there is NO sand built up around the terrace.

Can anyone explain these quirks? I have tested the map ingame and the same thing happens.

I know it has to be some setting because I don't get this sort of map redraw in any of the maps that came with the game.

I am also sorry for the small pics but you can click onn them to get a better look.

I also posted this question here in these forums as most of you seem to want to help others versus the flame wars on other boards.

I've learned a few tricks from you guys, BTW.

Another quick question, I have copied all the pertinent files from a game map into my map folder for making water.
The water in the game map is crystal clear, yet it is not in my map, any hints?

    Re: Terrain Problem

I think that it is because you have made it so the terrain is heightened within the building. You can see the terrain from a distance but as you move closer it generates it with more detail. I do actually see this type of thing in the official maps. Look at a mountain side from a distance then move in closer and you will notice it changes abit..

It's either that or the building being drawn in more detail... You could make the area surrounding it be more built up so you are unable to see it or use trees...

for the water, its the both the water.con file and the water folder you copied over right?

Thanks, I'll try the hide with trees trick and yes, I copied both of those over

An update....I tried trees, didn't like what it was loooking like.

Dropped the terrain to flat, lowered everyt5hing and NOW at a distance sections of wall and buildings disappear.

Frustrating editor but tis fun learning.
