    Re: Like tanks? Die.

I like my games to be fast. No thanks. I like being able to jump out of a vehicle at a moments notice. It's not fair to be driving a buggy, then come upon a tank and be a sitting duck while you are trying to dismount.

Most of the times, the impending explosion kills you after you leave the vehicle anyways. . I don't get what the big deal is.

I'm fine with it either way to be honest. But it's not a "game breaking" problem.

So, buggies and jeeps you can just hop out of, APCs have a short (half a second, just enough so show that it isn't as easy to get into/out of) delay, as do transport helos, jets should take a while to get into (but you should be able to get out with just a small delay), same with attack choppers, and it should take a couple seconds to get into/out of a tank... they shouldn't be "oh I'm in the middle of a firefight lemme just quick grab this tank and blast the guy and then hop back out as soon as it is banged up a bit" devices, you should have to commit. I'd even consider binding the first person into a tank so they can't get back out (but can swap to top position and all) if there were still repair pads.

If you want to get out, you should be able to get out, but you shouldn't be able to escape death just by ejecting. Jet pilots need a similar 'lag time' between pushing the eject button and being safely away.

Either that, or you get the points for blowing up a vehicle you damaged while it was occupied... though I think keeping people in the vehicles longer is the better option because it makes them live with (well, die from) their bad decisions.

uh, I'll go for the exteneded enter/exit animations as soon as the C4'ing SO guys have to go through a detailed c4 placement animation :) ...either way it aint happening, and for every time I've hopped out of a burning T90 and ran to safety I've also not done it quickly enough and blown up....

I have a bigger beef with being c4'd everytime I turn around as opposed to entrance/exit animations lol...its an arcade style game, expect it to be fast and not completely real...

I wouldn't mind a mount/dismount like Halo's, but it's not like it's ever really bothered me. But if they were to have said feature, I'd like to see ejection seats on the jets.

Fair enough, I think C4 needs review too. It's for ambushes, defense, and sabotage - not offense.

I'm not making this suggestion because I think the game needs to be real; I am making it because I think it needs balance.

Interesting point. Just so long as it doesn't apply to people in jeeps, buggies and transports. I reserve the run to jump out the doors of them the second the shit hits the fan.

First off, I wouldn't be botherd with extended times, actually its a good idea. I like being in armor and I know which boards I can use it in and which ones not to. I DO NOT thinktank whoring is even a valid statement. It doesnt take long to kill a tank, Heli-F15-TOW-AT-Mines-C4, its easy as heck to kill a tank. If you can't take control of a tank then practice using other kits. Dont whine because you walk in front of a big tank and get mowed down. Learn the game.

Guess you better extend the time it takes to get into the vehicle also, that way you can get TK'd by somebody who wants it worse than you do.

Seriously, this idea is retarded. You'd have to change everything about the game to get it to work. It is what all BF games have been since the beginning. Just leave it alone.

So lemme get your argument right - it won't work because someone can TK you? How will an entry and exit time increase the likelihood of someone on your own team killing you? I think that if someone is going to do it, they're going to do it.

Seriously, your response is retarded. Once you think up an actual, constructive counter-argument, feel free to try posting again.

Tanks do just explode BTW. I've done a few AT shots, where the tank was already slightly damaged before I started attacking it. On my second AT shot, it totally blew and I got the kill. Driver had no chance to escape.

True. This topic doesn't seek to change that.

My point being, like was posted before you would have to change C4 loading times and change this exit time for everything. You guys will bitch about anything. OH NOES, HE GOT AWAY!

                                Re: Like tanks? Die.

1- Please note where I said that buggies/jeeps you just pop out. These are light vehicles you're *supposed* to be able to jump out of.

2- As for the TK issue, you'd be back and climing into the vehicle again after they blew it+you up (think 'startup' time, once you start to mount up you are part of the tank.

3- the C4 issue is its own beast and you *already* can't jump out in time to prevent getting C4'd so it has no bearing here.

This isn't an issue of "waagh I didn't get my kill," not entirely at least. It is an issue about making a player commit to their decision to use heavy equipment, just like you commit to your kit in the first place. Things like the tanks, attack helos, and jets (and the BH as it is now, but that is another issue just like C4) are basically 'overkits' you pick after you spawn instead of before because of how potent they are, so what is being proposed is that you should have to make some sort of commitment to them. There will be no difference in the game's 'arcady' feel, unless you think a game like Halo or Planetside is a sim.
