    Like tanks? Die.

I made this topic inflammatory to get people to read it, since no one clicks threads with real, descriptive, normal titles.

I don't want tank users to die. I like you guys - you support me when I am advancing, and you provide big, juicy targets that distract the enemy away from me. But I do think that in exchange for the power granted upon you by that armored shell and powerful gun, you should be committed to your machine till death do you part. Or, at the very least, it should take longer for you to get a divorce.

    Here's my issue:
I think it's total bullsh1t that someone can roll around in a tank shooting everyone up, and then when the tank gets sufficiently damaged or starts burning, they can just hop out in a microsecond and run off.

Put simply, it should take TIME to get out of larger vehicles, especially ones where you're nestled inside a cramped cockpit with only a small hole above you for exit.

You want the powers of the tank, you oughta commit.

I don't think the same delay should necessarily apply to the transport vehicles, since you could conceivably roll out of an open door. Airplanes have ejector seats. Attack helicopters, well... your head oughta be minced, but that's another thread.

Yeah amen. Nothing more fustrating than taking 5 minutes just trying to take out a tank and then you dont even get the kill and someone else does. All that hard work was for nothing. One reason why it sucks to be Anti Tank class.

Think Planetside enter/exit animations. They took what, 1-2 seconds?

Yeah, this guy has a *very* valid complaint. There should be a 'dismount' time (and IMO, also a 'mount' time when you get in/hop out that varies by vehicle type. So, buggies and jeeps you can just hop out of, APCs have a short (half a second, just enough so show that it isn't as easy to get into/out of) delay, as do transport helos, jets should take a while to get into (but you should be able to get out with just a small delay), same with attack choppers, and it should take a couple seconds to get into/out of a tank... they shouldn't be "oh I'm in the middle of a firefight lemme just quick grab this tank and blast the guy and then hop back out as soon as it is banged up a bit" devices, you should have to commit. I'd even consider binding the first person into a tank so they can't get back out (but can swap to top position and all) if there were still repair pads.

If you want to get out, you should be able to get out, but you shouldn't be able to escape death just by ejecting. Jet pilots need a similar 'lag time' between pushing the eject button and being safely away.

Either that, or you get the points for blowing up a vehicle you damaged while it was occupied... though I think keeping people in the vehicles longer is the better option because it makes them live with (well, die from) their bad decisions.

This was one of the few things Joint ops did right. They had entry and exit animations that took a little time and stopped you being able to transport instantly out of a vehicle.
