Mods and Maps BF2

I was wondering if anyone is making maps, not just a mod but simple new maps which would be interesting along with the mods but i would really like to see some new maps.

Also, how is the mod issue going to work within the BF@ engine? In BF1942 we had an area to select which mod and i dont see that in this game? Am i blind or what?

Is this on the front page of EA, or is this on the DW on the BF2 site? So can we use these new maps as a official EA and can be loaded or no? Just wondering when i find it to download them.
