There can be several issues that cause a blue screen. The only for sure way, is to tell Windows to halt on the error, and write it down. Research the error code, and it will tell you the problem.

Anything from USB connections, to software, to hardware conflict, to IRQ numbers, the list is pretty much endless as to what can cause a blue screen.

Indeed. Just in case, to make it halt on error: right-click on My Computer, then Properties, click on the Advanced tab, under Start up and Recovery click on Settings, and uncheck the box 'Automatically restart'. This for WinXP Pro - I'm not sure about other versions - should be similar.

i was getting blue screen. turns out to be my audigy 2 value drivers! i reinstalled drivers and reinstalled the game and the problem went away. appears that audio drivers are bugged up. other people on web with other games have gotten the same problem. i had to enable windows xp kernel dump to be able to find out who was responsible. the mini dumps just don't cut it...

the exact same here, I uninstalled the drivers and used the old ones and had no crash for hours, but on the other side the audio quality was alot worse with these old drivers and EAX? eax was not working.. so thats not a fine solution

Blue screen is most likely caused by:

                1) Overheating (open case and aim a regular fan into it to try to test this)
                2) Bad RAM (use Memtest-86 to scan)
                3) Hard drive error (use Windows tool to scan)
                4) Bad drivers (update EVERYTHING, including motherboard drivers)

Its a driver causing PUNKBUSTER to screw up, till you find it your screwed. Mine was the iomega zip drive. Now mine plays fine at 1600x1200 resolution ALL options on HIGH.
