My Game won't Load..... please help

Hi,

Just joined the forum to ask for help I've installed the Game, Patched it. When I try & play the game its comes up with the Logo, Goes to a black screen & then goes straight back to desktop... Anyone know what could be causing this or had this problem??

I've installed the Direct X and Nvidia Drivers that came on the disc & still no Joy + totally Uninstalled & reinstalled it once already, still the same problem.

You can try cleaning video drivers with drivercleaner as expalined here:

Or uninstall this way by cleaning folders for BF2 and registry as mentioned in here:

http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showpost.php?p=312312&postcount=4

Then install again and patch using 1.02 and don't use 1.01 first.

Make sure to have latest chipset drivers from the manufacturer of chipset or motherboard, not just the ones from the install CD but latest from their website.

OK, on closer inspection the Patch i've downloaded from 2 places via the EA site has v1.02 in the filename but when you try to install it says "... to install v1.01 on your PC"

Why is this?

Oh and i've updated the Nvidia drivers from the ones on their site, to v77.77

The name 1.01 is present in the 1.02 patch, it is just an error or because it isn't a whole new patch just a hot fix. You can tell if it patched correctly if it says 1.1.2484 inside the game menu.

Unfortunatly I can't get that far Unreal Tournament 2k4 has got so tired now I really want to play this & it won't work

You can take a look in ...\My Documents\Battlefield 2\DMP\ and open patchlog.txt it can mention if patch was applied properly, and why not, e.g. too little disk space, patch requires 2-3GB free space. You can also see if important files where skipped, e.g. bf2.exe or core.dll, this happens if you previously had a no cd patch, that replaced bf2.exe and core.dll, and then they can't be patched.

Also when installing BF2 it will automatically install proper DirectX version, and I think it is mandatory to do so, but not sure.

Looked in there, patching seems to have worked ok, it's just fooked, I took it back today to the shop & got a new copy & it still doesn't work, so basically for NO EXPLICABALE F*****G REASON this game won't work on My PC... everything is up-to-date, everything is major brand name so "Plug 'n' Play" should work, & as far as I can tell there's no viruses getting in the way it's just being ***.

Reformat your comp, if you want to go that far. Then install it.

Try also updating PB.exe?

Also try deleting intro files.

Ok, through a friend i've found the problem, basically it seems my GeForce 4 Ti4600 Graphics Card (That I paid £350 to play GTA Vice City) isn't up to the job... so it looks like ita replacement on the cards (no pun intended) for me!

LOL Sorry Guys & thanks for your help, I didn't realise that my GFX card was so out of date. looks like I need to make an investment & als in in some more ram by the sounds of it!
