    Bomber missiles going haywire.

My friend and I fly/bomb together, and the past few times we've been on Operation Clean Sweep, my friend (the bomber) waits for the lock on signal and fires his missiles, only to have them go haywire away from the tank. We've tried getting in a new plane, we've tried both the Su, and the F-15, and we get the same results. We used to get hits everytime he was locked on, now we can only get them once per round, if we're lucky. We've also tried to lock on for a couple seconds before firing, but we had no luck their either. Has anyone had this problem, or is it just something we're doing. We don't think we've changed anything since we first started duo'ing, but who knows. Thanks.

dude............. the missiles dont lock onto tanks, hhmmmm maybe that is why they go "haywire" because when you shoot the ussually automatically head for an airborn heat source. heres a tip for you: use the bombs for the ground and missiles for teh air. lol

The copilot in a 2-seater jet can use laser guided missiles that DO lock onto tanks.

Yea thats what I was talking about. I was calling my friend bomber/copilot, while I was the pilot.

Anyways we tried again this afternoon after I made the first post. Again, sometimes they work fine, and others they fly off in the opposite direction.

We tried switching positions, me being the co-pilot and him being the pilot. It worked somewhat for me, There were a few issues with after locking on and firing, I just lost my lock on, even though I kept the crosshairs over the intended target. Also when their were 2 targets in a row, I would lock and fire on the first target, but it would hit the second target. Weird. Let me know if you've had similar experiences, or if we're doing something wrong.

me too im getting the same awfull problem with the co-pilot. if someone pilot an f15 and i can get the 2nd pos, i do not enter cause i know the laser gided missile go haywire as you say from its target...i tried on single player to see if its a lag problem or a game problem and the laser gided work perfectly fine for this mode...but on multiplayer...not a chance to kill some one, even when im not locked on something...i so much want to be able(im able to but i cant cause of this problem) to switch to co-pilot mode and fire a TV gided when out of bomb. now i realy hope that the 1.03 patch will take on this problem and cure this game of those frustrating problem.

oh..... sorry lol (i feel like a freakin boon) but yeah i found that you have to have a long way to lock on and shoot because if he pulls up or snything than it follows your laser/ crosshair.(hence laser guided) so i miss alot to lol.

                Re: Bomber missiles going haywire.

Try to only shoot when you have a lock that is somewhere in front of the plane.

yeah you need about 1 sec delay before it says "im locked on him" ...and yeah the target need to be in front of the airplane cause the missiles first go straight front. but for some it will not work cause of this bug problem

Goddamn, was just playing then as co-pilot, and shot 9 LGB\Mavericks (not exactly sure which one they are) in a row that missed left or right by about 15 meters. All with lock. They need to fix the damn things.

Luckily my pilot knew about them and was'nt cursing me or something.

if theres trees in the way or hills or anything it wont hit, the tank has to be in clear sight. if it still doesnt hit its bugged. normally i shoot the remaining missiles, reload then go out of missile view wait 5 mins then go back to missile view.

                        Re: Bomber missiles going haywire.

Had the same problem the other night when my mate was flying and and I was using the missile. Had about a 30% success rate. We were using TS and he was telling me when targets were ahead by using his bomb site.

He was mainly flying at about 100m altitude and I wasnt hitting as many as I should with the amount of locks I had on.

We played again the following night on the Oilfields map with me flying and him on missiles. I mainly fly a lot higher than him, and come in on 30 to 45 degree attack runs from about 200-300 metre hieght, going across areas where I know its normally vehicle busy.

Due to the angle of attack, he was locked on longer, without visible obstacles in front of him, and we got at least one vehicle with every sweep. Hardly missed at all. Reckon we had a strike rate in the 90 odd percent range.

To reiterate come in high, like a bf42 plane bombing run, and let him loose with the missile.

Give it a go, and let us know your results.

Check if its a Teammate next time because the missile will show on the screen but dont lock.

                            Just fly slower....

You have to keep the crosshair on the target for the missiles to hit, so just fly high, once the pilot sees a target aim the plane towards it eg. dive, you should get a lock. Fly slow, release the missile and point your crosshair on the target until the missile hits and afterburn you asses out of there. Don't fly low, all you'll do is either fly over the target too quickly or guide the missile into the ground.
