        Re: Aircraft Ramming

i do it accidentally occasionally... it takes so damn long to get a lock after a helicopter flares... and if you circle around to fire again it'll flare again, and most likely if you do get a shot off it will most likely miraculously miss, so basically your stuck MGing and those helis can take a hell of a beating and unless you've been shooting it from a mile away it most likely wont blow up, so in vain desperation you keep MGing within an unsafe range and as you start to pull up to avoid the chopper... the chopper pulls up to go to the next spawn and boom...

i hate ramming helis cuz that means i died and now i have to most likely endure the asshats waiting to TK me if i take the jet again and then when they get it either crash or fly around for 15 minutes and not kill anything... lovely

          Re: Aircraft Ramming

As hard as it is to get an aircraft, the last thing I want to do is crash it and go thru the whole process of waiting and then running down the jerk standing in front of me because he didn't get there in time...and wants to punish me.

...but without a doubt it happens...and it isn't always lack of skill. Sometimes it's the other pilot panicking and going into "evasive" manuevers. Sometimes it's because you think you can just hit 'em with one more shot from the cannon and still have time to pull out...only to find out...you don't.

I think there are far more issues to worry about then flag capping helos and kamikaze pilots...besides...theres nothing better than taking down a "fat" bird and getting all those kills.

NO... WAY...! I can't believe it. I never would have thought this game had a rediculous way of deciding teamkills sometimes, or that other people occasionally made mistakes because of inexperience or lag! CRAZY

You get a guy on pub, that gets in a fighter, and all he does is find the enemy chopper and ram it every chance he gets. He gets a death, and 2 kills nearly every time.

Is this a valid tactic? Or is this just a guy being a p*ssy and just out to piss people off.

                *EDIT*

Do you think that if you intentially ram another aircraft that your spawn time should be doubled? Just a thought.
Do not see a problem with it.

While he's ramming me in an attack chopper, our bomber pilot is having a field day with enemies on the ground. But those pilots don't realize they should chase other planes instead of ramming attack choppers.

They're worse than BH or M203 whores, since I can at least do something about these - but I can't do anything against ramming planes when I'm in a chopper (or AA vehicle, or AA site - since you can't hit them w/ AA missiles in 95% of cases).
Well, what's easier, sitting in a BH holding down the mouse button to repair, or aiming the jet to ram a BH. Plus, what's worse for your team, you ramming some BH and getting a kick vote on ya (even though your teamates won't vote against ya becuase you saved their asses) or have every spawn point taken and watching your team getting killed 1 by 1 from enemies.

I think it's an added bonus that there's a good chance the pilot will get TKs, rather than you getting kills. If it happens a lot, he may get kicked or reassess his exploiting ways, so you can get back on the ground where you belong.

sorry to be a prick, but couple things..

-both russians and americans used pencils in space at first

-pencils can burn in 100% oxygen (safety hazard)

-the space pen was developed for nasa for free, and was used by both programs.

valid tactic in this game? I guess.. is it lame? yes

anyone who needs to ram a helo to bring it down doesn't have much skill..

i sometimes ram a helo, but ive only done it once intentionally. usually im locked onto the guy and am trying to fill em up with lead and its just too late for me to turn away. the only time i rammed on purpose was when my jet had about 1.5 bars left and the plane was about to explode. i was goin towards a heli and decided i might as well ram it and die like that than die for no reason.

I've been playing combat flight sims long before I played BF2. So yea, I guess you can say I started as an experianced pilot.:p

I have used the MEC transport helo though to ram a full BH and rack up 6 kills :)
LOL omg dude, i do the same thing to those BH whores. I did it like 5 times on Songhua stalemate, and boy was it gratifying

As for jets ramming helos, I never try to ram them. I barely hit them and when i do its an accident. Like someone else said already...I'd rather stay in the air with my jet and continue to provide air support for my team, which is why you use guns and missiles(tho missiles go retarded and are hard to hit helos with)

My understanding of it the latest generation of AA Missiles is that they are hyper sonic (the likes of Sunstreak) and are very lethal against aircraft and helicopters especially at low level. Apparently the balance is shifting back to ground units with AA having the upper hand against aircraft.

Back on topic ramming aircraft is a really crap tactic and one of my all time hatreds. I don't care that its was used in real life it ruins the game as it negates any skill or tactics. Teamwork will sort out nearly all the problems that the game experiences so saying that just because some guy is BH whoring you are not justified in ramming them. Learn to deal with it for leave the server.
