Why can't I see my unlocked weapon?

Please help me: I unlocked my first weapon after 1000 points about a week ago. I selected the jackhammer (an engineer's weapon). The selection process seemed to go well however a week has gone by, I've played on many ranked and unranked servers as an engineer but when scrolling through my available weapons in-game I have never seen the new weapon. Can anyone tell me why? Additionally I would like to know please:
1. Should I be able to access this weapon only on ranked servers or also not ranked?
2. I assume I can only access this weapon as an engineer. Please tell me if otherwise.

When you are choosing your kit go to where the engineer is and there should be a little flashing arrow in a box to the right. Click it.

It should look something like this...note the little box with 2 arrows in it...click on it(in the game, not in the pic)

btw, I'm not a hacker, this is just a picture from the demo (Hacked Servers)
