    BF2 Music Tracks in MP3

I was wondering if anybody has found a way to extract the music files from the BF2 files, and convert them into .mp3 format? There's only 3 tracks, really, the opening cinematic, and both of the loading ones. I shall listen to them while I go cruise the town looking for hoes, and such.

And if anyone's interested on a fairly easy way to get the Aerial Service ribbon (19 kills, 15 mins. in a jet), Operation Clean Sweep as USA using F15 = effortless. So long as you have a team that's good enough to keep MEC pinned down to 1 or 2 bases.

Goto C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Common_client.zip and look in the Sounds folder. Some of the files are .wav's; others are .ogg's.

Winamp will play .ogg. CDex (or CD Extractor) can convert .ogg to .wav or .mp3 - it's under the convert menu.

You could convert your music to an .ogg, and rename and replace the files, but I don't know if Punkbuster would see that as a cheat.

People did that for DC, but I don't remember what effect it had with PB.

I'd be surprised if PB cared about music. It's not like you can have aural cheating while loading a map.

But then again, I don't know anything about PB, so maybe it does care.

aural cheating. I don't think PB cares about music per se, but it looks at checksums of the system files. If they have been modified, the checksums are different, and PB throws a hissy fit. I would love to change the music, but I'll let someone else try it first.

Find the .bik files in your BF2 installation and rename the extensions to .bak. 100% clean - no PB problems.

PB cares about everyfile. If its modified chances are you'll get kicked.

Not true. I have renamed all my .bik files to .bak and have yet to be kicked. I know many people who do this.

You can remove the intro movies with no problems. You could probably change the game's loading music - I think Bink works for this - It did for DC.

But, the menu loading music is buried in an archive with game code, so changing it may upset PB. Someone with $50 burning in their wallet can test this, or send me the money since I don't get paid this month.

I emailed EvenBalance about it. I'll post their answer if they reply.
