Question about adding resolution to cmd line shortcut

So I want to enable 1280 x 1024 with the shortcut cmd line add, however my monitor supports this resoltion at 80hz. Since the @hz option is not in the Bf2 options menu for this rez, how do I tell the game to run this resolution at 80hz?

Have you tried editing it in you video.con in your profile dir.

...My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\000X where X can be 1,2,3 etc. just look in profile.con to make sure you are in the right folder.

Havne't tried it just a guess as the resolution and Hz is set there.

There should be a menu system on the monitor displayng what Hz it is running at right now.

Other than than tools like MultiRes or RefreshForce can force higest Hz for each resolution I belive, so if forced in these tool, and using the commandline option it most likely will set it to the forced Hz.

The only reason you would need to play at 1280x1024 is if your LCD has a native ressolution of 1280x1024 or dimension that fit that skewed ratio.

The proper 1280 resolution is 1280x960 as it is in 4:3 ratio. The 1280x1024 is a leftover from old times when a SGI workstaion or similar had that resolution and it stuck as an option. Now as mention many LCD use it too.
Some games even only support the 1280x1024 instead of the proper one 1280x960, go figure.

Thanks for the response, I was reading my Viewsonic A90f+ spec sheet and it said that my optimal resolution was at 1280 x 1024 @ 80hz, thats the only reason I wanted to switch in the first place. I will try looking in the.con files you mentioned first and then take a look at the programs you mentioned.

So a program like refresh force just does not change the refresh in windows, it also changes it in the game as well?

If you force a refresh rate it will only be on that program (your screen should blink as if switching resolutions). Usually you want a refresh rater higher then 60Hz.
