It happened to me this morning. I'm on Sharqi Penninsula defending the flag nearest to the waterfront and am doing some major a**kicking. I had something like 15 kills without being killed myself, then BOOM - I get kicked. The message said I was kicked for high ping (it was at 78) or excessive team kills (zero). My question is this: is it ever in "bad form" to defend a flag? It's what I do best. When a round begins, I pick a flag and do my damndest to defend it. If it gets taken, I make it my mission to get that particular flag back. I guess I take it personal (gets me more immersed in the game that way instead of running around willy nilly). I like being a lone wolf and doing my own thing - that's my style. Anyway, just wondering if there are others out there like myself who are being punished for defending a flag instead of aggresively trying take flags.

Re: Getting kicked for defending a flag
Yeah most likely you were kicked because the server you were on has a bunch of 12 year old admins. The worst for me was a round where I was doing great. The opposing team had about 30 tickets left and I had over 100 points. The person in second place had about 70 points, so I knew unless I got like 10 TKs I would get the gold. Then BAM, out of no where I ws kicked. I would also like to point out that I got the same message as you about excessive teamkills and high ping. I was pinging in the 30's and had 0 tks. I told my friends in ventrilo what happened. When the new round started they asked what was going on, they were told " He was kicked beacause one of our guild members was going to get the silver and we wanted him to get the gold."Originally posted by mcmillanwell, it has happened to me a lot of times when i play with my clan m8s...we are playin good, defendin and attackin, and then suddenly we all get kicked at the same time...thats due to the nub and childish mind of admins who cant stand gettin owned at their own server...thats all
I now have a listing of servers I will not even play on any more because of the 12 year old admins that like to play God.

I think it's great fun to defend flags now and then. I play spec-ops and I love watching a van roll up right on my C4.Comment

Well, you know the IP address of the kiddie-hangouts ... you can do something about it if you are clandestine enough... especially if they are running Windows. Linux is not much more difficult. But I would never condone illegal activity :)Originally posted by YerejYeah most likely you were kicked because the server you were on has a bunch of 12 year old admins. Re: Getting kicked for defending a flag
Yikes! I hope other admins don't catch that fever, because that is basically all I do. I pick one of the most contested central flags and I camp there as either AT (usually) or support.
To me its a heck of a lot more fun then riding around all day capturing. Although, BF2CC is becoming my nemesis. I can't count how many BHs/APCs/Buggys/tanks I've removed from my flag, only to be switched to the other team when there are 10 tickets left for the other side. In fact, I think for my current AT account ( I have several accounts...) I have more flag defends than flag captures/assists.Comment

It would certainly be bad form for a server to have a policy of 'making room' by kicking the top player.
I would also disagree with another's comment to avoid clan servers since the majority of clans are adult run in my opinion.
You were likely kicked by an admin opting for that bogus reason because he was listening to others in his clan [who you were owning] and their insistance that you must have been hacking. I would doubt a clan would kick for getting 'owned', we all have egos and an awesome clean player can be fun to watch and play against.
Sadly, there are some hacks now til the next round of punkbuster so expect people's expectations of clean play to lower. What can be hard about this game on the 'owned' side is that a guy on a hill with a sniper can spot every bad guy and give them a 15 second or so 'light up' that would make you think the guy was hacking knowing exactly where you were.
In the end, take it as a compliment.Comment

Re: Getting kicked for defending a flag
Yeah its happened to me once but its been a while. Me and a few friends on teamspeak and in a squad just played D on a chinese map and they could never take it... I had the best score and I got kicked by an admin on the other team because they got frustrated that they couldn't take it... Now thats happened to me in Q3 pubs back in the day but that just made me laugh.Comment

Time for EA to make Ranked servers: "EA US Official Rank Server". I felt confortable in them. Enough of Clan servers. I am tired of em to.Comment

said it before, say it again, server selection is EVERYTHING in this game. make a note, and never go back. contrarily, use something like x-fire to keep logs of good servers in your favorites, etc.Comment
