video (graphics) problem

Hi Guys, from time to time i will get this problem in BF2 where the graphics gets f****d - the only way to explain it. I have a screenshot of it, check it out here http://falkeye.50megs.com/photo.html - basically you can see the mesh.

any ideas? - this is the only game this seems to happen with (I have the latest video drivers, directx, bf patch, video card is geforce 6600GT)

It looks like your card is overheating.

Does your 6600 have a temperature reading?

This used to happen to me in Joint Op's. Sometimes lowering the settings helped, and sometimes I had to restart the game. In the end I just bought a decent graphics card.

(My original was a GeForce too, maybe it's a problem with Nvidia. But than again u said it's only bf2...)

yeah, I had a look at the temp of the card - only 55c - it has the standard cooler from nvidia on i. Brand new card.
If i restart the game it works fine again.
p.s Sphinx - I used to have a ATI card it sucked.. :P

55C, that's nothin, my card goes to 60C in games, it's proabably not the heat. Maybe you might wanna tone down the overclocking if you have overclocked. Or possibly it's the drivers, and what are the rest of your system specs.

No overclocking, pc is amd 64 3000 venice core, 1Gb low latency memory, 2 250Gb sata drives raid0, gigabyte mb with nforce 4 chipset, geforce 6600 256mb pci express. winxp sp2, latest drivers and directx.

The only thing i can think of is that its a texture issue - I know bf2 is quite demanding on video requirements, but i can run it in 1024*768 in high settings with 4*anti aliasing (not the setting i have been using and i still get this problem, i am using everything on high with no anti aliasing.

i hate to say this
but that looks like bad ram.......had the same type of artifacts when i fried my 9800pro ram..................

you shoulda seen my BFV when i had my 9800pro with fried ram.....oh my.....it was scary....tip of the jet...phantom....was...AHH..big ass spike thing....trees would spike out all over the place, cabins...would spike out...oh man...it was horrible...

yeah, thats exactly my problem... but only after a while... anyway ordered a warranty replacement for my card - hopefully it will sort it.

Last time I saw something like that on my monitor was when I had a 9800XT go bad. Thing that irked me was the 9800XT wasn't even 24 hours old. Those things run at thermonuclear temperatures though.

I get this too occassionally in game. It's usually after playing for several hours. After rebooting or reconnecting it goes away.
