hello unknown_soldier... I was wondering what is the map you're playing, it looks very cool and i'd want to play on it... For your connection problem, be sure that nobody is surfing or downloading during your play... make a full adaware, pestpatrol and virus scan (spys make connection problems in BF2). I hope you don't play on a wireless network, too...

Yep, thats exactly what it is. I have a temp gauge on my pc which is giving me my CPU temp. Anyone have any suggestions at what a good temperature is? What a bad is? So I'll be able to keep a good eye on it.

Ooo another.... I think its my best one yet :-)

Re: there is a problem with your connection

I used to get those mangled textures a lot. Used to happen in DC alot also. I agree the video card is getting overworked. Happens also when I turn my textures up. I play with my textures on LOW when I set to medium will play for a bit then lag out and start with texture errors. The connection problem thing, of course sometimes you just have a connection problem, but I think there are a lot of people who have thier computer locking up... when it locks or lags you stop sending to server and it doesnt take long for the server to time you out and drop you. The question for that is, when it happens is everything still moving around in game (your computer is still running the game but no connectivity) or does your screen lag out / lock up after a couple of secs of that you get the connection message, meaning the server wasnt getting info from you and dropped your connection.

Back to the texture corruption, I had a 80mm case fan I wasnt using so I put it in my case I just set it on top of a hard drive facing directly at my video card edge on and I think I get less errors now. I still wish I could run medium textures though since it looks SO much better. I have heard people on here doing it with my card (6600GT) but I cant no doubt it locks up when I goto medium. I do run my card with 2X AA though. I find without the AA on a lot of things get too craggely looking and it hard to pick out enemys moving in that mess. (Try looking at the middle towers on that map when the cobra spawns on top of the building) without the AA its just a mess. I have been too lazy to experiment with removing AA and tying higher resolutions. (running 1024*768 now). I think if I want better textures I am going to have to break down and buy a 256MB card.

              AMD 2.1 Barton
              1.5 GB RAM (1GB+256MB+256MB)
              XFX 6600GT 128
Gigabyte GA-7dx+ Main Board (older but solid)
              2x 160GB Maxtor Drives
              Creative Audigy Gamer
              CoolerMaster 450w PS

p.s. - how do you get those screenshots to post inline like that and not as attachment / link

Re: there is a problem with your connection

WOW FINALLY A REAL ANSWER thanks man lol I'm am just so used to people being like woah dude thats cool and then I never get a real good answer to my problem. I also have a 6600gt and I run everything at Medium. I only have two fans though and I'm going to be getting another one soon. So that should be sufficient enough for air flow. My vid card heats up like a b!tch and I am pretty sure thats the problem. What happens is I will be playing and the screen will freeze, then after like 10 seconds it will unfreeze and everything will be f'd up. Either that or the screen will go black and then come back all messed up.

Oh and all I did was upload my screenshots to my photobucket account and then I slapped the link in my post with the [img] [/img] tags. It's simple forum basics if you know what your doing.

I get the connection problem, but my computer is not locking up, everything keeps moving, is choppers, people tanks, treea, the sky. Would this be some problem with the line? or because i have a highish ping? i cant imagine it being a server side issue as everyone else plays on like nothing happened.

Re: there is a problem with your connection

That pixelation is indeed most likely either a driver problem or a videocard overheating. While your videocard can overheat, particularly when overclocked, you really need to have very crappy cooling for that to happen. Does this happen only with BF2 or does it also happen with other demanding games like Half life 2 or Doom?

After I had some overheating issue a while back I decided to just watercool my CPU and graphics card. Works like a charm.
