Crashes to desktop after Ati Catalist 5.8 drivers

Any suggestions?

Battlefeild 2 crashes to desktop at startup (no login-screen) after I installed Ati Catalist 5.8 drivers.

More people experiencing the same prob?

I guess it has the do with the refreshrate. But I already tried all different settings/adjusted .con-files.

Now trying to go back to Catalist 5.7...

Problem solved.

The solution was just too easy!:laugh:

Just had to lower the refreshrate in my profile .con files and now it works.:p

Still dont know why this became a problem after new drivers.

Did you fully un-install previous drivers b4 installing 5.8 ?

That's the first thing that popped into my mind. I don't trust anything but DriverCleaner to remove my old drivers.

The Catalyst uninstaller works fine

Use drivercleaner, google it, delete the entire BF2 folder in MY DOCUMENTS, empty recycling bin, reboot, reinstall new driver, then run BF2, it will refresh entire BF2 folder with new profiles etc.

Tried it all. Now I got omega drivers. Same problem.:cry:

Have you tried older drivers ? I had probs with 5.5 & 5.6, but 5.1 was OK

Yes I did. 5.7 was OK. Now that wont even work!:cry:

yes i had a problem with the 5.8 also my whole screen waz just like black when i played so i rolled back to my 5.6 drivers cause they worked fine before, now im haveing problems with those. im seeing messed up shadows and stuff and my text in game is messed big time. have no clue what to do.

Try re-installing the game. If that doesn't work it would probably be more convenient to just format your HD and start fresh rather than look for some conflicting file(s) thats causing that problem.

The game is unchanged only the drivers are. Formatting my HD? I can not see this as an option, but thanx anyway.

After the new drivers I have problems aswell like graphical errors, no skin on chopper, big black square instead of a rotor, strange shadows and if I want to take screenshots of this it says not enough memory, have 2 gig, and then it crashes, heavy, the screenshots appear totally black in the folder??. Have to manually switch the power off and start up again :cry: Unbelievable.
This happened in Zatar wetland after 15 minutes play.

I found a picture of it in ss folder, strange stuff, also don't have a HUD when flying the chopper with this square. In Zatar btw the chopper was completely black...


This seems like a solution so can you explain to me which .con fle you mean and what refreshrate?
