An email from PUNKBUSTER TECH:
If you are getting full lockups of the computer when entering a PB enabled Server, do the following:
- check if it happens on non-PB server
- check for latest graphics driver
- check for latest chipset driver
- if you have a SATA controller - see below
nForce4-Board:
As a nForce4 user you should make sure you have up-to-date nForce drivers installed (the original drivers for nForce4 are known to cause problems). Do not forget to first uninstall the old drivers!
SiS 96x Chipset + SATA:
If you have this chipset, please install the following driver: http://driver3.sis.com/raid/raid303.zip
Silicon Image Sil 3x12A SATA RAID:
Installing this driver will fix the issue. Note that it is just for RAID controller.
SATA controller:
Check what SATA controller was built into your system. Check on the controller manufacturers website for updated drivers (especially WHQL drivers).
If none was found check the chipset manufacturers website for such a driver, after that check the mainboards manufacturers website.
If no success at all these places do the following:
Delete the driver in the device manager. Let windows find the driver and let it search for a capable driver at "windows update". It should find a WHQL certified driver now. That should work.
EA TECH:
Thank you for contacting us here at Electronic Arts Technical Support. I’m sorry for the difficulty that you are having with Battlefield 2.
It's me again, Angela. I understand that you want your issue to be resolved and escalated to a senior tech. But please let me make sure that I have done all the necessary troubleshooting steps before I escalate this issue. Thank you for your patience.

Next, please try updating the drivers for your Sound card. These drivers can be obtained by taking the following steps:
· Go to: http://www.americas.creative.com/support/
· There you will see three boxes. In the first box choose "Sound Blaster".
· The next two boxes refer to the exact type of sound card you have. SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio **
· Click the "Download DRIVERS" link on the right hand side under the big "Customer Support" picture.
· Then choose your current operating system (Windows Version) from the Drop down box.
· Click on the first available link under the "Driver" category.
· Read and accept the License Agreement and click "Download" near the bottom of the page.
At this point, it should then prompt you to begin the download. Be mindful of the Install instructions that Creative recommends.
** The Sound Blaster Live! Series in particular breaks down into several different types of sound cards. If you require help with obtaining the exact model of your sound card, you may wish to contact your computer manufacturer or Createive directly.

· Type in: dxdiag
· Click the OK button.
· Select the sound tab at the top of the tool.
