It's a big online war, organised by EA.

BF2 Combat, the Battlefield 2 Tour of Duty, is a unique community which will allow players to experience Battlefield 2 as never before. Featuring multiple ten-hour battles every week (of which members can attend as many or as little as they like) the Tour of Duty offers members a hierarchically-structured environment replete with cool features.

During signup, people have the option of enlisting to fight for the United States Army or Marine Corps, the Middle Eastern Coalition Armies, or the People's Liberation Army. All divisions offer the same superior game experience. Players can elect to participate in a variety of programs, including an Army Ranger School designed by real US Army Rangers and a wide swath of qualifications. Perhaps the coolest thing about the Tour of Duty is that the world changes dynamically not only after each battle but also after each three month Tour.
That means generals are able to decide what areas they will attack next, and the maps played will reflect these decisions. Members will also be able to bring their unlocked weapons in on battle day and will get priority selection for BF2 Combat's public ranked servers.

Ive been a member for a year now. Its good stuff organized 10hr battle 2 times a week. Practices the whole 9 just like your in the military sort of. The battles are on unranked servers but they have 2 public ranked servers. 1 east coast 1 UK. Cost is like 9.95 per tour /3months. Its alot of fun with mature players. If your just into pubing it isn't for you but if you like organized battles its hard to beat.

Yes I'm sure it is good, but it's not the only one of them out there, and some of the others are free.

the money doesn't seem to be an issue there are 4 armies the one I am in has 300 ative members already so around 1000 total in the tournement. It keeps out the smacktards for the most part. 21CW is free and long time very established tournement with around 2000 from what I have read. That is also a good tournement. BF2C has only been around since the BF2 release. Previous to that it was Vietnamcombat.net this was a smaller tournement playing BFV

For the record it is NOT organized by EA or in any way affiliated to EA. And yes it's very well run and does a good job of filtering out the FPS bitches and smacktards that seem to be abundant on the public servers and the majority of boards like this one. If you are a mature gamer and are into a military simulation then you should definitely check it out.

I joined up in August '05. I have enjoyed myself a great deal. I usually only make battles on Thursday and rarely make practice. I have moved up the ranks to Sgt. it suites me well. I get to have a somewhat active roll but do not need to be as dedicated as upper commnad. There is NO NO NO teamkilling. We use Teamspeak instead of the BF2 VOIP. It is really a blast. One day i was playing on smoke screen on -PBF- server and some idiot kept trying to TK me with a rolling jeep at the EU helipad... he tried 3 times before i just shot him in the face, disconnected and went straight to BattlefieldCombat.net.

I finally had enough with pubbin smacktards... and finally found BF heaven.

And if you can't afford 3 dollars a month... or if you can't see the benefits of paying for this kind of atmosphere.. your right.. BF2C is prolly not for you...
