Well i recently bought Battlefield 2. My computer meets the minimum requirements. I have a Radeon 9200. I know I know it is a shitty card. I got it for 5 dollars. I get a VPU Recover error. it says VPU Recover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphics commands. I can see the opening movie and after it says Welcome to duty then the screen is black and it doesnt change. I can hear the music.

I currently have the X800 XL, which I upgraded from that card. I remember when playing BF2, I used to get that exact error a while ago when it came out. What did it for my 9200 AGP was simply turning it's AGP speed down from 8x to 4x. There's no noticable difference in performance, and I was able to run the game fine on a mix of low/med settings.
To turn down the AGP speed, simply go to Control Panel/Display Properties/Settings/Advanced/SmartGart. There you will find your AGP settings, just drag the slider from 8x to 4x, restart your computer, and you'll be playing BF2 soon :) -

I tried what you guys said.. but once it restarted the agp slidder goes back to 0
1.changed from 0 to 4x
2.rebooted
3.changes back to 0 =/Comment

Turn VPU recovery off. Its the devil and can really mess your system up! (fyi, its in the Advanced Display settings, or Catalyst Control Center).Comment
