I hate to ask, but do we not agree on the definition of bunny hopping?

So, last night I was on a great server - they had 5 rules.

    1) [forgettable]
    2) [forgettable]
    3) [forgettable]
    4) [forgettable]
    5) No bunnyhopping

I rejoiced. Super. Let's get it on.

After 15 minutes on the server I was kicked and banned for bunnyhopping. "WTF", I said, "I didn't bunnyhop at all".

What I did do was jump and go prone in order to avoid fire and get into a firing position. This is a relatively realistic maneuver since REAL soldiers dive for cover all the time. Mind you, I didn't do the jump and perma-prone dolphin man move - I'm not even sure HOW to do that.

Apparently though, it was "bunny hopping". I always thought bunny hopping was taking advantage of the shortsighted stamina meter to jump over and over and over to avoid fire.

My other suspicion is that I did the jump and cover move on an admin, smoked his power-hungry a$$, and he got mad and banned me.

But I may be wrong - so what's the definition?

Another reason I don't pub as much as I used to. There are many lame admins out there that do not list the rules in their motd and just ban you because you killed them by bunny hopping. Another reason why scrimming and playing in matches pwns pubs

True, that wasn't bunny hopping, but when you jumped and then went prone your character actually does the dolphin move, which, even though it wasn't in the rules, they may have got miffed at. Still, thats sucks...

I stole an admin's plane twice in a row on Gulf of Oman and he kicked me. (did a veritical takeoff since he was standing in front of me for a teamkill, and I got kicked before I reached 50 feet) I know how you feel.

Hmm we have 5 rules on our ranked server, but we warn first and only kick after the 3rd warning. It was not a UK server by any chance?

          BTW our rules are:
*** Server Rule #1 : This server is a teamwork based server so please make or join a squad ***
*** Server Rule #2 : Please only punish for intentional teamkills ***
*** Server Rule #3 : This is a rabbit free server. No Bunny Hopping ***
*** Server Rule #4 : If you put up a kick vote you must give a reason ***
*** Server Rule #5 : No intentional ramming into jets or choppers ***

            Yea, that's the server!

            Except I didn't get any warnings :)

Perhaps rule #2 would be better as "No Intentional Teamkilling"

Did you get banned or kicked? Banned without warning is pretty bad, but kicked is, well still bad, but not as bad. :)

o.k now that sux... standing in front of the plane, what a loser... you should of just hit the throttle and ran over the guy. Or just opened fire on his sad ass.

                    Talk about people abusing power.

maybe rule number 5 should have been no jumping?

                        Hey guys,
Sorry for asking what is probably a really n00by question, but what is "the dolphin move"?

                        thanks in advance

Oh sorry about that. We only ban smacktards that grief. Everything else is a kick on 3rd warning.

Not sure why or who but please accept my apologies and we hope to see you back soon.

As a side note we have had a few complaints with the no bunny hopping rule, but it ticks me off more that anything. I can eat a face full of m203 day in day out and I am okay, but to see a guy jump around non stop makes my blood boil :p

                          *** Edit ***
I NEVER kick when I get "owned" (which is most games). my k/d is 0.74 as I spend too much time answering chat and stuff lol

                            Thanks for being gracious.

As per my original post, I was happy to see a bunny hopping rule - not because I get "owned" by hoppers, but mostly because it looks ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS to see a firefight where everyone is jumping around. I think to myself, "Is this really what EA intended? Is this what they wanted the game to become? Do real soldiers in Iraq have giant calves?"

After joining a game, I started wondering how you guys would police such a thing, like bunnyhopping. I soon learned :)

I wish I knew my hash key - I'd love to get unbanned and rejoin.
