Interesting exploit

So I was playing BF2 and decided to go make dinner after I got killed. I let the respawn timer run to zero, closed the map and pressed "c" (this makes the camera follow your team mates in 3rd person), and made dinner.

Ten or so minutes later I return to find the camera following an enemy soldier about. The guy who my camera was focused on had switched teams because we were losing, and it was still following him. It occured to me that I could watch what he was doing and relay enemy movements to my team trhough chat. So while I ate my dinner I watched this guy, letting my team know which outposts his squad was attacking and giving away his position when he way hidden.

So, I believe it is possible to spy on the enemy team, one guy dies and observes and finds his buddy, who switches sides and then goes about gathering information about the enemy for the observer to relay to the other team.

Okay, so its hardly game-breaking stuff but there you go..

I didn't switch teams, I kept chatting to my side actually.

Well of course it could have looked like you were chatting to "your side" but if the server moved you without you knowing, you could really have been talking to the "other side" which is your own team... if that makes any sense at all.

Try the UAV - same thing but alot easier.

So you found a bug in the game and then exploited it, right? Nice job.

Well of course it could have looked like you were chatting to "your side" but if the server moved you without you knowing, you could really have been talking to the "other side" which is your own team... if that makes any sense at all.

I'm sure I was still on my side, when I finished my dinner I selected a respawn point on my original team.

Okay so I exploited a minor bug, sue me, it wasn't even that useful, but it was kind of fun.

Not really useful enough to even attempt to duplicate

Would be kinda fun feeling 'naughty' watching an enemy soldier and following him around while you're snacking

This bug is still pretty useless. If you have a friend who's going to go on the other team, it would be much easier for him to just relay information using Ventrilo or TeamSpeak, than have you following him.

I don't think it's an exploit. You could do the same in BF1942 while waiting for a respawn. Press "C" to spectate another player.
