Game reboots computer and then gets an error message

Does anybody else have this happen to them?

Your game crashes, computer reboots, and when windows loads back up you get an error message saying there's a problem with the display drivers for your video card.

Sudden reboots are mostly caused by defect or overheating hardware.
First, I would free the gpu fan from any dust with compressed air or something. Don't try this with a hoover - you would most likely destroy the bearing of the fan. And install the latest graphics card driver!

If that doesn't help open your case, put a strong ventilator in front of it and play for an hour / run a heavy benchmark like 3d mark '05 by mad onion. If it works now you know you have a problem with air circulation in your case. Additional case fans should help.

If that doesn't work either try replacing your graphics card with an other (borrow one from a friend) and see if it works now.

If your computer is still rebooting unasked come back here ;-)

Read my posts on blue screen crashing. Try this uninstall your video driver by using add/remove and DRIVER CLEANER, google it! Delete the BF2 folder in MY DOCUMENTS any time you change anything for BF2. Turn off virus scan, install the driver reboot inbetween, see if that helps.

Also if you have an IOMEGA product, it could be the problem. this includes there ZIP drive, DVD players. Also the 6 in1 and 7 in 1 card readers.

Also make sure there is no hardware conflict causing this. Open up the device manager (hope this is how it's called in the english version of windows) and look for items with a yellow or red "!" or "X" icon.

Over heating is a possibility, unfortunately i don't have any sort of big fan to put in front of it.

          I've tried different driver versions.

The only thing with the yellow icons is the printer.

See if theres a new driver out, punkbuster is very picky with stuff. There tech pointed me to the zip drive and 6in1 and 7 in1 floppy card readers.

Also I have 2 tornado fans, 10.00 at www.newegg.com loud but very cool. In total I hav several. My P4 tmps never go over 50 degrees C max, as this is where I have an alarm set to go off on MOBO.
Usually 42-43 max with heavy gaming.
