I see many people having graphics issues. And alot of the time the first thing to do, is make sure your drivers are the most recent available. But alot of people neglect to read the "readme" included with the drivers and simply breeze through the install not realising by doing so they could cause a lot of problems. Well hopefully this will help those who didn't already know.
**Please note: This will not garuntee that your sytem will run the best, or will 100% for sure run BF2, its just a guide of how to properly install video drivers!**
First off, check your driver version and make sure yours is the most recent.
ATI Users (Radeon) Currently Catalyst 5.8: https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...p?folderID=301
Nvidia Users (GeForce) Currently ForceWare 77.77: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
If they aren't download the most recent available and save them to your computer (I have a special folder on my computer exclusively for drivers).
Next we want to get a program that will completely remove our drivers. For this I recommend DriverCleaner3. Available here.
Install DriverCleaner3 on your computer, but do not run it.
Next we will start the uninstall process.
From your desktop:
#1: Goto Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
#2: Find your graphics drivers (either Nvidia or ATI). Uninstall everything (you should only re-start after you have uninstalled ALL things related to your graphics cards, including Catalyst Control Center, or the Nvidia equivelent).
#3: Restart the computer. When the boot process starts hit the "F8" key repeatedly until a menu for "Windows Safe Mode" comes up. Boot into just plain "Safe Mode" (should be the top most option). Cancel the hardware install.
#4: Run DriverCleaner3 and select the appropriate driver from the menu (ATI or Nvidia *NOT NFORCE!!*).
#5: Restart the computer and allow it to boot regularly.
#6: Once you're booted into Windows again, cancel the Hardware Install again. Now find the drivers you downloaded, and install them. Once they are installed, reboot.
#7: You're done!
If everything has gone well your system will now have the latest drivers available. If you have problems then try installing a different version of the appropriate drivers.
