    A question for snipers

Do you claymore? I'm at a crossroads wheter to clay or not. I've been kicked and banned for TKing due to them, but I also HATE being snuck up on. What about you?

Yup...still have teammates that chase them like dogs after a bone, but in most cases they pay attention to the warning about claymores on my position...The big thing you need to pay attention to is WHERE you are sniping...if you are sniping in a good location, you won't have teammates nearby to worry about...

I really do wish you could disarm them/pick them up again though...there have been alot of times I had to move (resupply/cap flag/avoid arty) and had to completely abandon a spot because I placed them to where I couldn't get back :/

If you use them properly you can't go wrong. Always warn your team mates EXACTLY where you have placed them. I mean, if you're on Oman and you're in the crane, which is being occupied by the MEC then obviously it's safe for you to stick them by the ladder.

Always claymore. It saves the humiliation of being knifed in the back and teabagged for the next 15 seconds!

I think from memory i've got about 30 TKs, most would be from claymores. Frankly, if some bloke isnt gonna listen to my warnings of EXACTLY where i put them and EXACTLY where they can walk safely, and ignore my warnings of STOP (player) STOP MINES!!!!!! as they run closer and closer, then they're not worth my while worrying about.

Ive learned to only use claymores only when i know for sure i will kill an enemy with it. i dont even put claymores on top of ladders anymore because usually i get tk's.

                Re: A question for snipers

I usually pick low-traffic areas to snipe from. This (usually) reduces the number/possibility of TKs.
Honestly though theres no real way to stop idiots from walking into your claymores/mines. I find I have to search around for a decent server with intelligent people before I start mining the crap out of stuff.

                  Re: A question for snipers

The reason you dumb ass snipers get so many TK's is because you put your mines in stupid areas. You cant 'reserve' and area just for your sniping. Im talking about the idiots who put their mines at the top of a crane, or another popular area. These are places that your team mates would like to utilize. If I ever see mines reserving areas like these, I intentionally walk over them, and punish the idiot who placed them.

                    Re: A question for snipers

That goes back to what I was saying, where the optimum sniping point is a low-traffic area.
And you sir, are an ass for intentionally walking into mines and punishing those who placed them there. There should be counter-punishing for people like you :P

                        Re: A question for snipers

Its hard to predict what are good places for claymores. Don't put them at friendlyflagswhere all your teamates are spawning. You want to put them in strategic locations: paths the enemy is likely to take. Warn your teamates where they are and cross your fingers. 25 percent of my claymores result in TKs, maybe less. They work better when defending an area with a small squad rather than large scale battles where people run around alot.

Also, use them to protect your back while sniping. They've saved my life many times. If someone rushes your position, drop a claymore and retreat.

Place the claymores one each side of freindly assets and wait for the inevitable spec ops death

Did it on Karkand last night.

Was sniping from the cliff face on the extreme right when I heard "uav trailer destroyed". There was an arty gun just behind my position so I thought I would drop my 2 claymores either side of the arty gun.

I dropped them in a clump of grass/dark area and went back to sniping.

Sure enough 3 min later "sbikerbud (kills) blindspec-opsmuppet (made up name to protect modesty)

There should be better warning signs for claymores. I bet lots of people just think that theres a friendly C4 on top of those stairs and BANG... They also forget that you don't have to "touch" the claymore because it explodes when you get close enough.

On the otherhand, maybe the claymores should just explode and/or do no- or verylittle friendly fire damage when a teammate detonates them.

i just use claymores when I know an enemy is going to detonate it in a short time. Placing them around your own base "just in case to defend" is the quickest way to get booted for TK'ing. Claymores are excellent if you spot a bunch of enemy heading to a flag and you don't have any teammates to defend, But I like to use them when I sneak into an enemy flag and place some where I know some enemy will spawn and run out on.
