Idle Players on the Server

It may just be me but lately I have noticed a lot of idle players on a server and it is invariably all on one team usually mine. So on a 32 player server yesterday we have 16 players on our team but 5 of them were idle and during one round never spawned into the map once. Our side was beaten horribly of course.

Not too long ago I was on a server and this happened and I complained to one of the server admins. He told me that the server wasn't full so it wasn't keeping people from joining the server so no big deal. However, the admin and others from his clan were all on the other team and didn't have a problem beating our team with the 5 idle players.

I am starting to think that there is more to this. Seems like it is happening more often. No adays I just leave the server when it becomes apparent that the poeple aren't going to join at all.

Definantly dont think theres anything more to it but this is happenening a lot. I find it most frequent on the weekends when the weekend wariors finally get on to play and dont want to give up their spot for a break.

People have also been making macros and what not to join servers and just idle there because some of the medals and ribbons have those high time requirements.

They don't seem to realise they have other requirements too though and if they just played they would have the time requirements and the other requirements....

A couple servers I have been on have automatic kicking for idle players. However this is a problem because their set max idle time is EXACTLY the same amount of time for me to load the next map. Meaning me = kicked.

yes - this is a problem in another way
with the new rule that you need 10 players
many clansmen park in the server to get it going
then once there are more than 10, they bail out
(or are supposed to)
sometimes it is in the wee hours of the morning
and the admin is also sleeping

Doesn't punkbuster kick idle players after XX mins? :hmm:

This is because it is so damn hard to get in a server... I do it to actually...

just join our (or any) Clan (thecongclan.com)
then can always get in a game

We have an idle script on our ranked server. 5 minutes of inactivity and they are kicked automatically. That way the games stay full with active players, but you still have time for a smoke or go to the toilet and not get kicked.

That's a great idea. I didn't know that was possible. What server is it?
