There are several reasons you wouldn't want to do this...the biggest being resupplying the spec ops guy that just blew them up...followed closely by not being able to use them to help out your own troops. I will admit I do get kicks wasting supply drops before calling in Arty or dropping them on an unsuspecting sniper...but only if nobody is asking for supply and I don't see any large groups of friendlies that would benefit.

Yes... and dont forget that getting the repair done by an engineer helps your commander score, whereas a supply case dont...

So I would say it is the other way around... only noob commanders use Supply cases, without first seeing if a able engineer can do the job

I love the engie class. There's nothing better than hiding some mines in sneaky places and watching peeps blow up. Very satisfying. It's also great to be able to repair all kinds of things.

I usually play armor and I guess some would call me an "armor whore", but I never understood the logic of that phrase. I mean, if you're gonna use armor, you should know how to use it and you should be an engie.

However, an engie with no armor is very vulnerable. Gotta learn to run and hide, heheh. Then sneak up and let loose with 00 buck. Boo yah!

Its simple, if you are at the top ten then your a some kind of a whore like armor whore, teamwork whore, heli whore, plane whore etc etc...
If your not at top ten then your a n00b.

Please dont flame me, I didnt come up with this... I am usually a so called teamwork whore, heli whore, plane whore or an apc whore.

heh.. the class I've been most effective with is engineer. though AT is now racing hard for first place.

I'll be the rare guy who protects the rear base best he can and repair anything getting blown up.

some commanders still don't get it that if there is an engineer in their base, racing towards a damaged asset, that the engineer is going to repair it and drop a crate all the same.. even after being told to cut it out.

mines as defense against tanks don't work anymore with the new patch, which is dissapointing at the least, still, love the kit really, leftover from my DC days

Engineers are immasculated in BF 2. I was a die-hard Engie in BF 1942, and used them about 50% of the time in BFV.

Now in BF2 I never bother. The only thing they have going for them is the pump shotgun. Most armor whores like them because of the spanner, but beyond that, they really are useless - especially when compared to the capabilities of other kits.

Mines work even better than before now because they have more usefulness

Anyone ever played with engineer bombs?

Basically, if you know how to use these, you can take out infantry and vehicles alike now.

Just moving an AT mine near a vehicle (not necessarily under it) and detonating it with a grenade WILL take out the vehicle

Also this can be done by throwing a mine or 2 over a wall and sending a grenade to follow them -- the blast radius on these is huge (and they can be chain-linked) ... Most people will flee if they see a C4 land at their feet, but alot won't even consider an AT mine.

The other night I was playing Karkland and was actually getting quite a few kills by either setting my AT mines off with grenades or with the commander setting them off with artillery.

Also if you don't have the jackhammer yet -- MEC shotgun CQB = power
