Maybe u should try out this. It's free , has recently bf2 support, buddy list and autojoin feature.
It's not that effective like sitting there watching server browser and hitting refresh as u can't join immediatly. U can't leave bf2 open and connect thru hlsw. It doesn't work. But noneoftheless it's better then nothing.

GREAT idea - a waiting room
(not being sarcastic - it IS a great idea!)

Without trying to get flamed....anyone who is still using the ingame browser to find servers should maybe try to use one of the multiple solutions released by other gamers maybe?

BF2 Auto-loader has a favourites section, better filters, and an auto-join option that connects you as soon as there's a slot free.

Thats what I use! The in-game browser in BF2 leaves quite alot to be desired.

BTW, one of the best all around basic in-game browsers can be found in Wolfenstein : Enemy Territory.

Sounds like a very good idea, something similar to the Steam queue.

Yeah it's pretty cool, impressive filter options and auto-join refreshes every 5 secs I think to check for a free slot.

Joint Operations has a queue system, I thought there was mention of one being added to the 1.03 patch but probably was just thinking of favorites list, which I'd gladly take.
Problem with external server browsers is game load time, on the more popular servers you'll never make it in.

Yep, so many times I would click on XFire or Game-Montor, only to have the server full by the time I actually load the game.../poo

Yep. After you press Yes you should have a dialog that shows you the following:
                  1. Server name
                  2. Server IP and Port
                  3. Number of people in queue
                  4. Your position in queue
                  5. Time elapsed
                  6. A "Cancel" button

When its your turn to join the server you automatically load to the server as if you just double clicked on it from your browser.

meh - i would just find another server - or if you wanna meet someone there have the "Connect to IP" dialog open ready to connect and have him tell you when someone disconnects (easy to see as it's green in the server comm)

i mean it's a good idea. But it should probably be on the back-burner of new enhancements.
