So i run bf2 today and it just takes me to a black screen, some words come up that i can't read. And it shuts down to my desktop, all my icons are moved.

Sounds like your Gfx card may have changed resolution to an unsupported setting crashing and coming back up.
You can try to reset to your orginal settings and see if (and only because its a good visual guide) your icons return to the usual place.
I'm sure if you post your setup you will get more than an educated guess.Comment

1 gig of ram / 2.8 ghz pentium4 / nvidia geforce fx5200. Alwase was able to run the game before medium/low.Comment
