      Re: New Tool, BF2 Contrafibulator

Is the 'Synergi Tweaked' setting the same as editing your video.com files with the touted 'ultra' settings?

I'd just like to know what tweaks these are and apply them myself rather than having a program do it for me...it's the Alpha Geek in me

        Re: New Tool, BF2 Contrafibulator

Anybody know the exact tweaks that are applied with this app?

I was hoping that at least the author would reply...

No, it justs pulls it from the registry, so you can edit it direct should you ever need to.

Its similar, its just a collection of settings that make BF2 a little smoother and more playable for me, for instance what I believe to be a better draw distance from increasing the geometry setting to ultra-high, but keeping the lighting level on medium (i think all the high setting does is decompress the lightmaps, i.e almost unnoticable quality increase).

There are no tweaks done in my personal tweaks bit that you can't do by hand with your profile, its just an easier way of doing it...

Well true, it f***ed up my system, I still like it tough haha.
F*cked it up in what way? You mean you just set your quality settings too high and the game wouldnt work? :) Also bear in mind all the ultra settings will require more vid card ram and CPU processing time to work, so don't get too over silly with your choices. Also, bear in mind that my 'tweaked' setting does change the resolution / refresh rate to 1600x1200 @ 72hz respectively which is what I use on my 7800GTX - you might want to make sure that your card can run BF2 at a decent speed when running in this rez first, and also your monitor may not support this resolution and/or refresh rate.

This is amazing, love the layout design and it works like a charm.
Thank you so much, I realy apreciate the work you have put into this.

I cant belive there is no more reply's to this thread, this should be a sticky!

            *Edit*

I noticed one thing tough, when you launch a game the ingame buttons and text are named (ex BFHQ) is named Menubutton1, Menubutton2 and so on. Dunno if this is because I have Swedish language on my BF2 or not.
And the Synergy tweak settings boost my fps up by 10+ amazing :P

            *Offtopic (sorta)*

I tried the OpenAL fix and it rebooted my system, I'll change it back to default tough. Just wondering if this happens to anyone else? I get the looping gunfire sounds so I figured I ask here :P
Thankyou, I appreciate the kind words. I'd only tested this on 3 English systems before releasing it (this 'is' beta ofc :) ), I'm assuming that when you run BF2 in a different language you need to add a command line parameter? If you wouldn't mind checking your 'normal' desktop shortcut to run BF2 and telling me what the command line is.
I've just had a thought too, at the moment if you edit the registry using my app it 'rebuilds' the Battlefield 2 set of registry keys and I'm pretty sure its hardcoded to set the locale and language to English_US and English respectively. I'll add some more options so that you can choose the language your game is running in.
For now just dont use the registry editing portion of my app and if you need to reset your language settings, run regedt32 and go to HKLM\Software\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\
try changing the Language setting to Swedish or Svenska (sp?) and locale to sv_NL - i'm guessing at these values.

What sound card / driver set are you using, if you are using a sound blaster live or any (internal) Audigy series card then I recommend you use the hacked Audigy 4 drivers for best performance / compatibility - if you still get problems, THEN try the OpenAL fix. All the fix does is force BF2 to use your soundcards supplied OpenAL libraries instead of the ones that come with the game.

            ---
Nice to have so much good feedback, keep the info rolling in and I'll add features (server browser next?) as and when they are requested.

                Re: New Tool, BF2 Contrafibulator

Try loading the tool back up and clicking the 'OpenAL Fix' option again so the tick dissapears and it should restore your original sound driver.
This might have been because your sound drivers weren't fully up to date and didn't include a very good OpenAL driver (this is most likely the reason why EA/Dice decided to bundle their own)

Would you mind sharing the changes?

Oh also, for the guy that asked if Punkbuster detects if you remove the movies etc - no it doesn't. I do not and would not ever include anything that would upset punkbuster :)

Talus, I'm always looking for tweaks to add and when I do I will include them in the tool. BUT at the moment, all im doing is changing graphics options. It's not that I'm doing anything special, its just the combination of settings I use.

Ok, I thought you were using a .con edit to add the 'ultra' settings or maybe something else we hadn't heard of.

If your tweak only makes changes that can be made from within the game's Video options menu, then I don't need to know

I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for new tweaks

'Ultra' settings can be achieved by using a text editor on the .con file.
                            option @ high setting + 1.

The tool has now been updated with an Installshield Installer and a redesigned auto-update process. Name has changed too.

So you are NOT using the Ultra settings in your tweaks?
