Finally solved Lag problems

:) I finally managed to solve problems with lag following great advice.

I spent ages messing around with new RAM upgrades, new Catalyst drivers, monitor settings etc, but finally managed to eradicate RAM using two methods:

1. I increased my RAM aperture via my BIOS to 256
2. I downloaded the BF2 Autoloader and only play on PING servers with ping time less than 100.

I am convinced that the former was the key. I can finally play without ANY lag on all high settings with textures set to medium. I am delighted!

My PC spec is:

Pentium 2.8
1 Gig of RAM
Radeon 9800 pro with the latest Catalysts drivers
2 Meg Broadband
Monitor performing at 70Hz

well the most u can overclock it goes up to 414 the safe zone. and you dont even notice preformance. like maybe a couple FPS.

i'm not very good with comps adn would like to know how to and what would overlock do.

If you download Catalyst control centre it has a overclock feature called overdrive. You can let the program determine the best speeds to overclock to.

Actually the Overdrive feature in the Catalysts are only for the XT series of 9800s(needs the Temp. Monitoring chip)On that point "some" 9800s have been basically dumbed down XTs,"most" 9800s built in the last year have XT cores(R360)but the holy grail is to get on on the XT's PCB.

Ah I didn't know the feature was exclusive, I have x850 xt pe. The more you know...* * *

use ATITOOL for overclocking. Its the safest and it will determine the max core and RAM timings for your card.http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=725
