Ok so i just purchased a joystick ... need some piloting tips

    Hi guys
I just got a Logitech 3D Extreme Joystick this week and i must admit its pretty sweet, I was practiseing with the jet around 890-900 speed but i was wondering some things more experienced pilots can probably answer for me

    1) Do you slow down when bombing land targets ? (what speed also if u know)
    2) Tips for takeing out AA structures & land targets with the machine gun
    3) what speed do u usually fly at when engaged in air vs air dogfights ?
    4) what speed do u usually fly at when just flying around the air to scout the areas or trying to take out choppers ?

thanks in advance to anyone who answers :)

1 ) Try fly up in the air, about 400 alt. Then point your nose forward and drop your bombs on the target. And no dont slow down.
2 ) Come from an area with an wide space , put on your bombs so you know where to find the AA gun ( which will be in a square or a circle )
3 ) Well, different, just use your afterburner in turns which will make u make the corner faster and you will pop behind him. DO NOT SLOW DOWN! This makes u vurnerable!
4 ) I attack choppers from the back, cause most of the time the choppers dodge te missiles when u attack them from the side. And just shoot bullets at the same time..

Slowing down to bomb will help the bombs fall closer together and can make it easier to hit your targets.. just watch out for those pesky SAM tanks :p Higher speed and/or lower angle of attack (flying straight vs dive bombing) makes the bombs fall further apart. Dive in at low speed and the bombs will land pratically right on top of each other.

I drop bombs on the SAM emplacements. There's usually infantry nearby, so the SAM site just gives me a nice marker on the ground to aim for. I suck with the guns when attacking ground targets.. I find a vehicle in the bombing hud and strafe it hoping that infantry is nearby and my wild shots hit someone.

Full speed ahead when dogfighting! Somehow, in this game, going faster gives you better control and a tighter turning radius. You also seem to have a higher topspeed when flying at altitude - 40ft vs 400ft.

i find the higher the speed the harder to fight/aim. i fly fast when i am getting shot at.

one thing i do do when dropping bombs (cause i am still learning) is that i have one of the buttons on the joystick set to change to rear view. after i drop my bombs, i pull hard on the stick, drop flares (if needed) and switch views. this way i can see how i did on my bombs. it allows me to better understand the effect of my speed/alt on the drop.

and it looks really cool when i actually hit something...

I would definately not go any slower.
              Why?

If you go slower, this means a humvee or an jeep can shoot you down with ease, choppers? tanks? And other planes....

I usually slow down when trying to hit choppers (as long as your in an area where AA won't get you). It allows you time to wait for their flares to fall and retarget on them. On Dalian Plant, if the US force doesn't put someone in the carrier's AA guns, you can make a killing (bad pun) sweeping back and forth between land and the carrier taking out choppers.

As lousy of a pilot as I am, I've yet to be shot down by a jeep, chopper, or main battle tank (SAM tanks, yes). As far as other planes go, they shoot me down no matter what speed I'm going

well i started out trying to do level bombing and found the i would only hit half the time so i decided to start dive bombing and my accuracy has gone up considerably
I actually had one guy acuse me of hacking the other day because i was beating the hell out of their team

but anyway my style is to fly extremely high and have the bomb thing on and look for targets when you see one start diving towards it and keep an eye on your mini map for friendlies (TKs suck since they almost always punish you even though you didn't mean to) and if you ahve a clear target release just early enough so you can pull out of a dive and miss the bomb blast

it takes some practice but you'll get it trust me i've blown myself up quite a few times because i dropped my payload too late and got caught in my own bomb blast so you're not alone if you screw up
