Verifying Client taking way too long...

A few weeks ago BF2 was running great on my system. I upgraded my rig right before the game came out.

But lately, after the map loads, the 'verifying client info' portion is taking forever! I usually miss half the first map. anyone have an idea of why this is happenning?

Try a disk defrag as others have said it's changed the time it takes to verify.

Mine takes ages aswell, I will try a Defrag tonight though.
See what happens...let you know tomorrow how it turned out.

I'm running a p4 3.2 gHz, with a gig of PC3200, and two 160 Gig HDs, and I "Verify Client Data" at almost HALF the speed of my friend who is running a 1.5 gHz, with 512 Mb of PC3200.

Going to try defragging tonight, but if that doesn't work, I'd like to see if I can get some feedback from ya'll? I defragged just a week or two ago...

It used to take me god knows how long to do it with 512 of ram, now with 2 GB's i completely load and in a game within 30 seconds of clicking a server.

fixed it!

make sure your primary hard disk controller is using DMA. If not, uninstall the controller and reboot. The controller should be auto-installed with DMA working.
