    Just plug in and go.

In TS there's an area where you can test your mic to get the levels right.

Try this and see if you can hear yourself first.

Can you hear 'normal' sounds through it when you plug it in (e.g. music) ?

First of all, check your audio controls and make sure the headset isn't muted etc.
Secondly, on the audio controls...create a sound test.
Thirdly, check the manufacturers website for a "read me" if none works.

k can hear music coming through the speaker, its the input of my voice that im concerned. ru supposed to hear sounds for example blowing wind on it even though u have no program running ie, TS? cuz i cant hear any sound of my own voice on the desktop, where i am testing without any third party programs....

If you want to test if your mic is working, then you have to bring up the windows volume mixer (double click on the speaker icon in the lower right corner of the screen (tray) and then make sure that Microphone is NOT muted, and turn the volume up.

Then go to Options, then Properties, then select the Recording radio button and click ok.

Then check to make sure the Microphone is selected and that the volume is up.

At this point, you SHOULD hear your own voice through your speakers or whatever your output is set to.
