    possible reason for mine tks

I am not trying to defend the people who run over friendly mines but i may have a reason as to why this happens. When i'm in a vehicle i'm constantly looking all around me for the less than sneaky people hiding in the bushes, or running up to c4 my vehicle so my vision is seldomly straight ahead of where im going. Now, i rarely run over friendly mines but it has happened on occasion and i never punish for my stupidity. Also, when i'm capping a flag, i do the well known rocking back and forth while im scanning all around and sometimes in the heat of the moment when there are 2 or 3 guys rushing with those little bundles of death, i dont see a fellow engi drop a mine right behind me(which i dislike very much). And the last reason is, i'm heading to a flag that i see a fellow engi has strewn about his mines and i work my way past them to get close enough to the flag, the enemy starts attacking and before i can move, someone wisely throws smoke hindering my vision, and thats usually MY team throwing the smoke.

Maybe these reasons might apply to other people too, i dont know. Thank you and have a nice day.

So many ideas that could be true. Remember though, if you get tk'd and don't do anything about it it will automatically punish......

I think everyone has now run over a friendly mine by now.

Sometimes the mines are just placed bad or placed to many mines

I am aware of that and not only do i vote not to punish, i usually apologize after respawn. I think ive only been mine killed less than 10 times in about 60 hours of play, i try to be observant.

Something else that i have seen happen quite often is, someone will be following me in a seperate lav and when i see a mine and stop, before i even have a chance to warn the person, they go barrelin right past me. I can only laugh and silently thank them for clearing the way.

I wish the default response to TK's was forgive. As for mines, C4, ect. It's all about placement. You can place mines so friendly can pass and get more kills too. People keep going across pathways instead of away and to the side. If you stagger the mines on the left side of the path leaving room for friendlys to pass on the right it wouldn't be such a problem. You can drop them on dark spots in the road too. This will make them invisible to your enemies. Just use your noodle. Think before you lay. Also, stop punishing. Unfortunaly the "punisher" probably don't use forums so my last remak is most likely in vain.

Crazy me laying mines the other night. Was on a Chinese map as a USMC. And on the docks defending. While everyone is exiting the docks from the south with vehicles. I go to the west side and lay all my mines in a line. I move to the east side interrupted with a little incursion. By surprise I see I got a kill, thinking "How?". Then noticing, Enemy in a jeep was rushing into our base. Then another..then another...I had 4 enemy jeeps enter from the east. But only 3 mines activated. One blew up due to a collision with a destroyed vehicle. I was like..."Whoa!...bonus!". Some of the enemy troops entered on the east, before the jeeps. So..everyone that was on the docks..now are moving to the east side, getting into battles. I take my tank and block off the east entrance so friendly vehicles can not go out, and trigger my mines. I couldn't get out of my tank to disable them. Feeling the enemy will jump in it. I would have to wait, until the battle has softened up. Then an engineer comes and starts repairing my tank. Well, ok..my tank is damaged. So, I am in a tough stance, looking out for these Chinese Black-Ops. And you know what?...two FAV happen to go around me at top speed, and the mines triggered. So, the points of 6 are now down to -4 and -4 assist. I then needed rest after seeing this. So, I left the game. What a fool I was. Never again. But, now I laugh at it.

it could be my view distance settings or geometries but sometimes the red skulls do not appear in time for me to do anything about it

That is not just mines but with personnel at a distance, snipers and aircraft have a hard time with the slow showing of FFA. Have it all the time or not that is the question of FFA. FFA = Friend or Foe Annuciation

                      Hi
Some people do put them in the most stupid places, ie exit to spwn point, "**** enemy arty, fun for it, oh wait mines, ill just sit here and get owned".

I think they should just chnage it that frinedly vehicles cannot set of frinedly mines, like in most other games, no worries that way.

this is the key thing to remember! If you get TKed by something you did, please be sure to forgive before it auto punishes

I have the same problem occasionally when I'm towin' it in a buggy. Maybe friendly mines should show up on the mini-map or something.

This is exactly why I hit friendly mines too.

I always watch my back, front, chase cams and whatnot to try to spot enemies in the bushes or elsewhere. I think I've hit friendly mines about 10 times, of which 2-3 I've been killed.

You see, I normally see the mine, but too late. Say I'm watching my back, then changing to cockpit view and I see a red skull right in front of me, I jump out immediately. This often causes the vehicle to hit the mine, while I only lose a small amount of health.

Whenever I get killed by a friendly mine I always forgive, of course - unless he places it right infront of me while driving (i.e. on purpose).

I have been trying to play Engy more lately and talk about a class that will wear you out trying to figure out the best place to place defensive landmines so not to TK. I try and place them on a angle so that friendlies can turn slightly and clear them (If they see them and are not to lazy to make a minor adjustment in their path)

Ppl complain that landmines are placed at Spawn exits. Yes, but what is an exit for friendlies is also an entrance for the enemy.

The problem is the skull and crossbones usually don't show up till the last minute and if you are in a jeep then there is no time to react usually.

They need to also come up with a better Icon then the skull and crossbones now. They need something different for Mines, Claymores and C4.
