    Hi all

I just purchased a new 1 gb stick of ram now i have 2 gb for BF2 goodness but i just want to know:

After i put the ram in is there anything i have to change in the bios? Or is just put it in and play? And should i re-install bf2?

    Thanks for the help

      Nah, just plug-and-pray!

If you are worried about this though, you should check the timings in your BIOS. If your modules are different types, with different timings, your BIOS may read the SPD (auto-configuration chip) on one stick only and apply these settings to all of your ram modules. If it tries to run one of the other modules at tighter timings than it allows, you will have crashes and lockups.

Use some diagnostic utility like Sandra or CPUz to view the SPD data for each of your RAM modules, and then set your BIOS manually to the worst (highest) settings you see there.

This is really being paranoid, as most BIOSes these days are pretty good. Setting the timings to "Optimal" will usually always work fine, although it doesn't push the memory to its most efficient settings.

A good few hours of Prime95/2004 (or BF2!) torture test will verify that your modules are happy working with each other!
