I keep my sockets in a drawer cut so they can be easily found

                  Re: Cant find Socket?

Does your PC fit with these specs:

Why do you get a 'Could not find socket' error when trying to play online with an AlienWare PC?

                  Answer
If you are using a Marvell Yukon network adaptor you may get the error message 'Could not find socket.' To work around this issue, disable the Marvell Yukon adaptor and use the nForce adaptor that came with your AlienWare PC
Else I would look at relevant connections settings, firewall software and hardware, router and network adapter settings, e.g Windows XP built-in firewall can easily be activated by just running Network Wizards and with you knowing.

                    Re: Cant find Socket?

Try to telnet on the port number if you know what it is. I think the manual lists all port numbers that the game uses.

                    telnet <ip address or hostname> <port number>

                    For example telnet www.ibm.com 80

You should see the screen go blank if it works. This just means you have connected on the tcp socket of that server and it is listening(accepting) connections. Use ctrl-break to break the connection. If it doesn't conect it will just say connecting to <ipaddress or hostname>...... This means it didn't connect.

                    Hope this helps.

PS - This wont work for UDP ports
