  • One thing this game is missing BAD!!!

    Hey all...

I must say i love this game...
But there is one thing that an older game called Delta force used to have...
    that this game does not...

    Bullet travel time...

In delta force a bullet when fired would acctually travel...
Also the bullet would also fall down as well...
Long distance shots have to be aimed slightly higher then the target...
Gravity would pull the bullet down...

If a bullet from a certain gun travels at about 900 mph, the game delta force would calculate the travel of that projectile...
    It was so nice...

That was the best part of that game...
I must admit that overall i like this game ( BF2 ) more...
But delta force was released about 5-7 years ago...

This game ( BF2 ) needs to have bullet travel calculations...
and it also needs gravity effects on bullets as well...

PS : when you shoot a tanks main gun, it seems like the shell "travels"
and the shell seems to be effected by gravity and trajectory...

So why only the tank shells ?
Why not the machine guns and pistols as well ?

I know this does not take too much CPU power because delta force had maps even LARGER then BF2 and had 32 and ( i think ) 64 player as well...

And im not kidding about the map size... some maps were close to double the size of BF2 maps... and this was about 5-7 years ago...

    cmon DICE!!! dont get lazy...
eat some sweedish meatballs and get to work...

Sorry mate, no. Swedish meatballs won't help either, but they are good.

      lol

Yeah i lived in Malmo for 3 months when i was 19 years old...
Had lots and lots of meatballs... and yes they are very good...

But what do you think ?
Even if Dice does not do it for whatever reason...
Dont you think it would be an Implovement ?

Bullet travel was in Codename Eagle, BF42 and BFV. I see no reason why it wouldn't be in BF2, albeit I haven't been playing much of late but I have had to lead with the L85 at least...

          REALLY ?
so it is in this game ?

          AWESOME!!!
          Are you sure ?

The reason i was saying its not in the game is...
I was reading someones post about sniping...
It was sort of a tutorial...

          In the post he says...

There is no bullet travel time...

And he was very high ranked player giving a tutorial on sniping...
So i figured he knew what he was talking about...

Ussually i am medic or engineer...
So i dont do too much long range fighting with my guns...
But when i fight with someone about 75m-100m away from me , it seems like i never have to lead them to hit them...

Maybe the range is not large enough to need a lead...
Or maybe they took it out...

Does anyone know for sure if regular hand guns and regular rifles and such have bullet travel time calculated ?

because the game "FEELS" like there is none...

Well. There is no bullet drop thats just a rumor reason you sometimes hit when you are above the head is because the sniper rifles are as accurate as some other peoples posts about commander scoring.

There seems to be travel time tho however. When I snipe i lead targets far away.

ah yes delta force 2 the first, first person shooter game i ever played. I luved sniper on that it was brilliant. And at range your ghillie suit actually camouflaged you. i remember my longest shot i musta run for about half the map up into the hills.

recently i went back to see if it was still as great as i remember, only problemw as i couldnt even tell what was what. lol 8bit gfx it seemed

There is travel time. EA made the travel time twice as long on the support guns so you get those sweet looking bullet effects in mid air.

-about the maps being bigger in Delta Force....

as you said, the game is 5-7 years old = horrible graphics = any computer can run it

BF2 has awesome graphics and not every comp can run it..even I get like 30-40 FPS, with everything on high and I have a really good comp., that's why the maps are not that big...

huge maps = a lot of RAM

Re: One thing this game is missing BAD!!!

Yes you can test this theory of bullet time on kubra dam... lay on one side and snipe i always have to hit a lil higher to hit target if you just aim at the body directly you won't hit it unless you are close. So yes there is bullet time and the bullet does drop after awhile.
