    That "Great Squad" Feeling

Whenever I'm squad leader, I always try to play with the squad in mind: be the one missing soldier class in the squad, hang back so guys can spawn at me to take a flag, give coherent orders, and follow the commander. Likewise, when I'm a squad member, I try to follow the orders and play whatever role is needed. If ever want to go Rambo, I'm just a lone wolf with my AK in my hand and that's that.

The other night, I played and I had a great squad: everyone playing for the squad, helping each other out, and the commander gave us plenty of supplies/UAV. With 6 guys, we flipped flags in seconds, then moved onto the next objective. We absolutely dominated the map... and I just had this giddy "This is how the game should be played" feeling. I've played this game over 50 hours, and this was the first time this has happened. I find that ridiculous.

Anyone else feel this way? Anyone else want more "tight" squads like this? I'm tired of having guys in my squad who should just be lone wolves...

I would love to see some servers that run and are just played by tight squads...

The way the game was ment to be played!

I love playing the SL role. I will constantly update orders to the squad to keep them busy with objectives. Try to follow Commander's orders if our Combat Situation allows and have fun!

What I find really frustrating is jumping into a squad and then the SL jumps into a plane. You are pretty much an ineffective squad once this happens. No where to Spawn and no orders....might as well play Lonewolf...or jump into a squad with someone who keeps thier feet on the ground and humps the trail with his troops.

Yeh, squad/teamplay can be a real good buzz.Teamplay can completely wipe the map of the enemy when done right.
Just very rarely see this happen on pub ranked servers.

I know the feeling, but generally I'm just one of the squaddies. Its great when you storm a flag taking out the unorganised defense with a few well placed shots, risking myself to revive anyone unfortunate enough to have been hit and taking the flag for the team.

Shame not every squad I join is like that as it does improve my gameplay experience so much, including for some reason making me improve in general. Maybe its the confidence of knowing that the squad is looking out for you, rather than every corner could lead to your death. Heck, I just love the animation and the way you cover each others backs. *collapses in an excited heap* Yesss I love it!

            Couldn't agree more.

The first time that happened was very early on in the game for me. I joined a squad where everyone stuck with the leader. He and I were Assault, we had two medics and two anti-tanks. We went around taking everything.

I have had a hard time finding it since but everyonce in a while it happens.

But, last night I just downloaded teamspeack and have gotten online with a couple of my friends. . . THAT is the way to do it. . .easy communication and people who actually WANT to play with each other.

So much more fun. I never do rambo anymore.

I have been in games where 'the majority' were doing things like that - and it's rubbish - nobody defends.

We take one flag, then head to the next, and the next, back to the beginning - we all go round in circles, occaisionally bumping into each other - without any decent combat taking place... it sucks.

                Hey guys,

After reading this thread, it looks like you guys might appreciate playing on the TacticalGamer servers (there are 2 servers open to everyone). TG's a community, not really a clan, and we focus on teamwork, tactics, communication and playing the game 'as it was meant to be played'.

TG Servers are not officialy ranked, for various reasons explained on our forums but I guarantee you'll have a 'good squad' experience almost every time you play.

Check out www.tacticalgamer.com and see if it interests you.

Its been a long time since I've had that good feeling. Squads seem to just be constant capping gameplay. I perfer the whole defend, front line combat. I really wish supply lines was implemented. I can't honestly recall the last time I saw purple smoke while being in a squad.

I've made my own squads and called it defense, but people get bored and scatter all over or just leave the squad. And then you join the server that has 32 players that run the 64 maps.....Worst idea ever. There is no team work with that situation, its all just drive around and get points for flag captures. Its not fun. But I digress.

I'm praying to god someone is tinkering with the Supply lines mode to get it working. Untill then I'll be the lonely AT guy defending that contested flag all by myself.

the #1 reason I play with a clan....we're from other games but have moved into BF2. Its much more enjoyable to be with other people in TS/Vent - even as little as 2, but usually 4-6 playing at once.....without using that crappy voip we can pick classes, assign objectives and move through a map with great effectiveness....

I agree, that is the way the game should be played. I try to play with the same group of people each time for that reason alone. A squad based team will destroy and bunch of lone wolf's any day.

                          Hit me...

It's like a drug...it's like your first kiss...when the shizzle working right with your squad. You almost cry, when you have to call it a night...okay maybe not cry but close.

I play not for rank but for that uber squad moment. The problem is that most people are casual gamers and don't have headsets or don't take the time to understand the point of BF2...it's not about a fragrate...it's about teamwork.

Does this site have a ranked server???

I can't wait to get on tonight.

                          Muahahahahaha.

I had that great squad the other night. Dominated map after map. It was real late and none of us wanted to go to bed because it was fun and we were racking up points. We changed things up a lot too. Sometimes we rolled with a blackhawk and a cobra for support. Armor convoy. One time I was in a plane doing airstrikes for our objectives. Things were so smooth.

Alright, due to the popularity of this thread... this is what I am going to start doing.

From now on, I am going to join the lowest numbered EA US server available-- either East Coast or West Coast. So, if EA US Official WC3b has opennings and EA US Official EC2a has opennings, I'll join EC2a (it's the lowest numbered server). I'm going to always create a squad called "Teamwork".

Anyone who wants a tight squad, join a low server and look for the "Teamwork" squad or start your own "Teamwork" squad!
