Game freezes every few seconds.

Could it be the video card overheating? My friend's video card fan had died on him and anytime he would play a 3D game, it would freeze on him after a few minutes.

if it never hapaned before why would it start now, and not only to one person but alot

I've checked my video card before the game started freezing and the temperature was around 55c

Your system is perfectly capable, but I'm guessing Video Settings might be a tad bit high. Try setting everything on Medium, 1280x1024(or 960 depending on monitor) and see if it helps.

IMHO:

512mb memory = Low Settings
1 Gb memory= Medium
1.5-2Gb = High

This is for any system because they tend to choke because of memory issues before they choke from a video card. Even though your card can handle it, it probably needs more memory than you have.

Solution: Either lower the settings one whole notch, or upgrade to 2gb of RAM, which solved EVERY problem I had.

I've lowered the settings all the way and still had problems. That's not the solution.

OK, so I took out a different stick of RAM tonight, and put all of the video settings on low. I was able to play for about an hour before my game froze. But this time my computer didn't restart, the game just froze. I wasn't able to minimize or do anything. I could get to see the task manager, start menu, etc. I just couldn't click it.

Could this be bad RAM?

Search google for memtest and use that to test your RAM. Otherwise, try the other thing I mentioned with using different drivers. Nvidia card, right?

I have actually ran memtest and did not come up with any errors.

I have tried many different nvidia drivers.
77.30, 77.75, 77.77, 66. something and a few others.

I was able to play single player for about an hour before I got a blue screen crash...no freezes though.

I had the same problem. I disabled AGP fast writes within my mobo BIOS and cleared this persistant graphical freezing right up. Apparently the NF3 chipset and MSI Mobo's sometimes have issues around this.

Something you might want to look into as it took me a few weeks and lots of help on this board to finally pinpoint.

I don't think I can change AGP anything...I use a pcie video card.

Try joining a non PunkBuster server. I am having the same problem (it sounds like) and PB is the cause of mine.

I had the same problem playing single player so i don't think that's a solution.

I was able to play for a full 2 hours tonight before my game froze(not crashed). i could access the task manager but couldn't utilize it.
I updated my sound drivers, although the sound quality in the game was not as good and the voices were broken up, i was able to play.

BUt my game still froze. What's the deal?

Well that time I was only able to play for about 30 minutes, same settings, before my computer crashed to a blue screen.

I did notice a black horizontal line would flicker on my screen once every couple minutes...I've seen that before, but not as frequently.

I played counter strike source for the first time last night, and after playing for a little while I started having texture problems...
